Feature:
I really like the master volume knob on this guitar. It allows me to use the pickup selector switch with the master volume to make quick, live stage adjustments.

Quality:
The pickups sound great, the neck is super playable and the finish is beautiful. The toggle switch is a typical Epiphone (adaquite, but not great). I've all ready upgated to a Gibson switch. The one downside to this guitar is the cheap volume and tone controls. I'll be upgrading them to Gibson as well.

Value:
Lets face it, Epihpone continues to turn out a high quality, reasonably priced instrument. I'd buy another in a minuite.

Desirability:
This is the guitar I was looking for, a hollow body Les Paul. It looks great, sounds great, and if I happen to back over it with a truck, I'll buy another. People are always coming up to me and asking "what the heck kind of guitar is that"? I'm happy to tell them.

Sound:
The Alleykats Gibson made Hunbuckers (one 57', one New York Mini), sound great. The Mini, in the neck position, has a hotter sound than bigger 57'.

Support:
I've had no need for support.

Overall:
In searching for a hollow body, Les Paul style guitar with Humbuckers (I fight 2 other guitarists with single coil pickups), I have been more that pleased with the Alleykat. After some setup considerations, it has become my favorite ax.

Purchased this guitar 6 months ago. Best purchase I've ever made. Fantastic value.I play mostly Oasis and stuff similar to that. The combination of the mini-NY humbucker and the '57 humbucker (both pu's are Gibson USA made) gives me the rhythm and lead guitar sound of oasis in one guitar! The mini NY humbucker is the killer pu on this guitar. It's also well balanced for a semi-hollowbody with a medium to thick neck which fits my hands perfectly. My only complaint on the quality of build is the pickup selector switch which is classic Epiphone quality (read: bad). I plan on installing a Gibson USA switch when this one dies on me. Otherwise my Alleykat was setup perfectly to go. Now at $399, it is by far the best value semi-hollowbody guitar out there! Recommend playing one through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe Reverb amp to one out. You might fall in love, like I did.

Feature:
It has a global tone control - some might want tone pots for each pickup. I don't miss it. I like the master volume, easy to use while playing. The selector switch is just a tad awkward in its location for me.

Quality:
The body and the pick-ups I give a 10+. A beautiful guitar full binding, even the f-holes. Pickups are versitle and good quality. Good tuners and strap pegs I give the lower rating becasue of the pots. I bought mine a little over a year ago(?) and maybe they've fixed this, but I had to replace the tone pot and the 3 way switch within a month. It wasn't a big deal or expensive to replace, but there's no excuse for pissy pots in a guitar of this caliber.

Value:
I give this a 12! Could be I'm now predjudiced, but really, the Kat just has too much versitality and tone for anything near or above it in price. I mean I get a real "feel" when I play this at least as good as most stock Gibby's I've played.

Desirability:
I feel like I can work with this guitar - seems very personal. Looks great, well balanced and hum, growl and skra-reem. Does the work of three guitars. Wahat more does anybody want?

Sound:
I'm playing through a Digitech 200 into a Peavey Bravo and the more I play it the more I cut the effects and let the Kat and the Peavey play together - especially on the clean channel. Both pickups respond really well to the dynamics of my playing - easy to get a sharp clean edge to full thick chunk of sound.

Support:
I have no idea.

Overall:
This is a keeper. I have a feeling it's going to get better as it ages. Found some hot tips on tweeking this Kat over on Harmony Central. Not anxious to change anything yet as I'm still exploring the subtleties and dynamics, which stock are rich and varied.

Feature:
The case for the Kat series is more expensive than the less paul series. I assume because it fits less models. I could come with a gig bag.

Quality:
The body and neck are highest quality the togle switch has a lot of play in it . The knobs all turn well and are responsive. Tuners are top rate non lockers. The finish is very heavy polyurithane, could be lighter. the over all quality seemed better constructed than a similar Ibanaz.

Value:
It compairs well. The price is fair

Desirability:
It is good looking and a great practice axe I usually pick it up before some of the other axes I have. it is very comfortable to play

Sound:
I play this through a Marshall mg50 and the greater depth is in the treble range. I have to to adjust down both vol and tone on the bridge pickup to get the neck pickup to have any depth. once that is set it sounds very good for blues and Jazz work. The sustain is ver good on lead work. The best part of it is it's size and weight

Overall:
I chose this guitar as an addition to a larger semi-hollow bady and a in-between to a soild body. It is not as great a sound as some of my other guitars but a lot more fun to play.

The Alleykat is probably the most versatile of the Epiphone "Kat" line, mostly because of its two distinctive pickups. The Wildkat has two single coil P90s, and the Flamekat has two mini humbuckers, but the Alleykat has both a mini and a full-size '57. This results in a nice range of tones, from mellow and jazzy in the neck position to more trebly and biting in the bridge. There is some nice finishing work on this guitar, with the internally-bound f-holes, and clean construction throughout. Can't put my finger on it, but it's just really fun to play. Nice and quiet, no-hum from the P/Us, and the tone is excellent for recording. I am very pleased with this guitar, especially at this price.

Great finish, Great Tone, Awesome Guitar. I actually went with every intension of purchasing a Dot. I hadn't even considered anything else then right next to the Dot was this Alley Kat. It was a touch more expensive but it's well worht it.

great neck.construction immpecable.I read that Gibson blew it when they didn't use this model rather than the blueshawk. The earlier models had Gibson U.S.A sticker on the humbuckers. They certainly sound like the real thing. It just feels good.

Feature:
Really nice smooth acousticy clean, as well as a fat raunchy drive with the treble turned up.

Quality:
Quality is definitely lacking, the electronics as well as the main pieces ain't so great.

Value:
Well, if you've got a few hundred bucks to spare it's probably sensible to upgrade to a real Gibson and save yourself some headache with the cheaper parts, though it is a nice instrument in terms of sound.

Desirability:
Very nice looking.

Sound:
Great clean sound with lots of variety in the different pickup settings, however after owning for about 6 years I have noticed the screws are all pretty rusty.

Support:
Never dealt.

Overall:
Well, I never have been able to or will be for a while to afford a new guitar but this baby has done me pretty decently.

Great detail, incredible sound, beautiful guitar. I also have a Fender Standard Strat, but the WildKat [sounds] better. This guitar makes me want to play it all the time.
