Feature:Chose this one over the others, because I wanted to the versatility to use it as a standalone patchbay if needed.
Quality:
Solid. Edirol has a reputation for cheap consumer gear. This one should have been presented with the Roland trademark. It's not a toy.
Value:
Even if the problem I mentioned above is a total bug, it's still worth the money.
Sound:
If it doesn't hum or buzz in the rack, it's good. In this case, the only "sound" it needs to make is "silence."
Support:
I waited to try to get support before reviewing it. Not good. I did get an automated response to my question, but it pointed me to a knowledge base article that had been removed, whose title didn't sound very promising anyway, and that's all.

yes, it's good. i sold two MOTU MTP AVs the serial and the USB versions. With MOTU, I was spending more time troubleshooting things with their lame tech support, then making music. not so with this product! ..and MOTU, it wasn't my computer! my friend has a couple of Steinberg boxes and those are good as well, but they're more expensive, and don't have as many features as Edirol.

well, ..it doesn't make any sound all by itself

didn't need any - and that is the kind of support that i like

I will be satisfied with this product as long as midi instruments are around, ..but if they go firewire

Build quality is excellent. I have had it for 3 years and never had any problems with it and it is on all the time.
Value:
Cheaper then most of the MOTU interfaces with the same amount of interfaces. Much much much easier to use then any of the MOTUs too!!!

I've had UM880 for several months - not a single problem. Some people complained about MIDI merge, but I haven't noticed any problems with that. You can do patching "on-the-fly" very quickly - every IN and OUT has a dedicated button. I like my UM880!!!
