The sound of this amp is pretty killer. Sometimes I think about how good my tone is as Im walking around town. Once you can afford it, get the cabinet too, the combination of the two is really where its at. I played this head though a high end ampeg, it couldent touch the eden cab. This amp sounds better than any other amp I have heard. Also note: I mic the cab with an audix D4, its better than the DI I think. I play jam music, which fits this amp perfectly. You may know both Phil Lesh and Mike Gordon use this same model. The only other amp I would consider would be a GK 800RB, Chris Wood's amp.

"Always get that meaty growl with my WT800"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I've used this head now for more than 2 years and it's never failed to get me that meaty, thumpy, growly sound I love. I play an active Lakland 4402 and usually keep the EQ on the amp flat. Sometimes I add a bit at low end if the room is big. I have used to Enhance control to get a bit of 'scoop' for some older, but mostly I love the sound of the rig set flat. That to me is a testament to the amp being built for a classic bass sound.
