I've been through dozens of humbuckers over the last 20 years. I never found one that gave me the exact sound I heard in my head, until I got the tone zone. It works clean, slightly overdriven and with over the top overdrive. Country to metal it is responsive to pick attack, responds to volume changes and is the most balanced sound I've experienced. It's very full sounding without being overly compressed. It's very articulate and notes ring out. Great harmonics too. I've paired it with a PAF pro in the neck on my Charvel, but it works great with an air Norton in the neck of my les Paul. I'm probably going to put it in all my guitars now, even the ones that have pickups that cost twice as much. By the way, sounds great if you split the coils too!

I bought this bugger after doing countless hours of research and having multiple failed attempts trying to find a way to fatten up my thin and weak sounding 2017 Gibson SG HP. It came stock with classic 57 in the neck and classic 57+ in the bridge and I originally thought it had to be the titanium nut and titanium/aluminum bridge because I had the same combination of pickups in my 2017 Les Paul Classic (non weight relieved) and it was fat as hell sounding, almost too fat(if there can be such a thing). So I replaced the nut with a bone nut (cut for wider string spacing than stock to really take advantage of the wider HP neck) and did an ABR-1 conversion with brass saddles (wider string spacing as well to match the nut, which from a playability standpoint really made the guitar go from "overrated" to "I am never selling this thing because of the playability"), those mods helped a little, but it wouldnt really come alive and start filling in the bass and low mids until my Marshall DSL was cranked past 2 or 3 o'clock on high and then it sounded fantastic. Well that wasn't acceptable because I could only do this about once a month at most, usually way less. And the rest of the time I was either a bedroom player, or playing and practicing with friends at my house or theirs and we both have families and little kids so we can barely get to 9 o'clock on the volume if we are lucky, and even if EQ'd for more bass and mids, it never sounded right. Well I ended up trying a custom/59 hybrid, a custom (and every magnet possible in it), a JB, an Invader (yuck visually but close sonically, just too much of that I AM CERAMIC sound) and even a duncan distortion I had lying around because I was desperate. So then I started really doing some research and while making every attempt possible to stay out of the Dimarzio camp (always have been a duncan guy), I finally ended up with a choice between two pickups. The Norton and the Tone Zone. I was leaning more toward the norton, but from what I know about SG's is they either love pretty hot or paf style pickups and everything in the middle is jus blah, and zzounds had an F spaced Tone Zone in stock. So I pulled the trigger and ordered a Dimarzio liquifire to go in the neck because petrucci lead tones are just so super awesome and fluid and I am not on the neck much because I do mostly rythm and I wanted to match brands so I wouldnt be paying the in phase/out of phase game and having to swap leads or magnets. Well ding ding ding, that was where the magic was at. That bridge pickup and that guitar now sound great, they sound good no matter where your EQ is, no matter what amp your playin into, no matter what volume level. There is always just the right amount of firm bass and crisp but fluid highs, and I swear that the only thing that ever changes are the amount of mids when changing EQ or amps and they never overpower or missing from the sound. So all in all I have become a Dimarzio guy overnight. It is the best sounding guitar I have, or have even heard, it is crazy, but the only other guitar that come close to sounding as good every time I plug in is my SG jr with a dog ear gibson P90 (totally different sound, but just as good and versatile as the SG with the Tone Zone). I do not know if this will work in every guitar and there are some I would definitely say hell no on (thinline tele -alder body with maple cap is a big hell no, it's a super picky guitar as well). But if you have something that lacks a set of balls or sounds super thin and wimpy, The tone zone is the shot of steroids that will thicken and fatten it right up.

This pick up is great for everything, I use it for straight up power metal, the distortion sounds powerful and clear, over all i think it has a little bit more muscle than the super distortion...

With my strat ,the tone zone pickup sounds great with a red bear amp (sounds like a Marshall plrxi '87).on a one pickup vuitar it excells!!.
