Musical Background: Playing guitar for 20+ years, currently in a hard rock band, I have a discerning ear and I usually only play Marshalls.
Music Style: Rock, Hard Rock, Metal

Sound: I have a Marshall Vintage Modern which sounds amazing but weighs a ton. I use the Crate V18 as a practice tube amp and it really shines, especially for the money. It's light and sounds great with an OD pedal. It even sounds good when I plug my acoustic/electric into it. I play hard rock and metal on it but the clean tone is sweet too. I leave the reverb off but I also leave it off on my Vintage Modern. Best tube amp for the money hands down. Feature: Nothing special, just the way I like it. Ease of Use: Crank it up, plug in an OD pedal, turn the reverb off and give'er. Make sure the volume is on 3 or higher and it'll be way louder than the drums and the tone will be great. Quality: I play the crap out of it and it always works. Value: Again, for the money you WILL NOT find a better tube amp. You can buy 3 or 4 of these for the price of other middle of the road tube amps....and this one sounds better. I have a Traynor YCV 50 and I like the Crate way better. Don't get me wrong,I record with my Marshall but if you want killer tube sound without the weight of a 2x12 Marshall and the price tag of a Mesa this is the amp you're looking for. Great 2nd amp. Manufacturer Support: Haven't needed any. The Wow Factor: Looks sexy. Love the old school chrome toggle switch and it has the look of a American made motorcycle. The V18 logo on the front is my favourite feature. Overall: I've tried to replace it with teh Marshall Class 5 but I ended up taking the Class 5 back because it didn't sound as ballsy and wasn't loud enough. I'm keeping this amp until it breaks then i'll buy another $200. Worth every penny. Loud. It isn't a Marshall but it's a steal at $200-$300 bucks. GREAT practice amp. Nice and light and loud and looks great and sounds really great for hard rock.

Sound: This Amp has that sweet voilin like tube sustain that I have been seeking for years. Now, if You are a metal Head, You Most likely will not like the sweet even harmonics that this Amp produces . I am a seasoned Player of 30 Plus Years experience and have owned Marshall Amps ( plexi, Silver series,800 etc.)Fender Amps (Vibroverb Non Repro,Bandmaster,Bassman,Twin)and a host of other classic amps. This Amp can be dialed in nicely as is, Cleaned and brightened with a simple tube change. Also there are all ready a host of Mods that work great all ready being posted on the Web. I give this Amp a 10 because the Price and sound possiblities Make it Deal of the Decade material.Add a tube screamer or Your favorite distortion pedal and spend some time in Heaven. Feature: All the knobs I need. Ease of Use: Easy volume Knob Guitar controll. Quality: Nice Plywood Cabinet. Great looks. Value: Class A tube Power at this Price.WOW! Manufacturer Support: Quick schematic, Nice reps. The Wow Factor: This Is What I Have been looking For. Sounds great thru a Marshall 4/12 Cab too. Overall: I would Replace this Amp in a heart beat if stolen. As a matter of fact I bought Two just in case. And they sound great in a stereo setup.

Sound: a little on the shrill side, doesn't have your typical tube warmth...hard to geta good clean sound out of it Feature: Standard features found aon almost all tube amps..nothing special Ease of Use: Plug n play...hust make sure your guitar is hooked up before you turn it on Quality: Poor...made in Vietnam and judgeing by this amo they are still holding a grudge Value: Not avery good value foe the money, If you want a nice tube amp get a blues junior by Fender...Less money and a LOT more amp Manufacturer Support: Good luck getting thru to Crate The Wow Factor: Not a ver good amp for blues or jazz...distortion is shrill..you can do much better if you're looking for a clean warm or bluesy tone with the less expensive Chanp XD or the blues junior both by Fender Overall: I didn't care for this amp..played it for about an hour my driend had ordered it an dhe ended up sending it back
