this is a wonderful program i now have thousands of dollars worth of machinery at my finger tips and all for a very low price not to mention i can build on it even more, this program is like a dream come true, a bit complicated, but once you take the time to figure it out it can be a very useful tool in creating any type of music

its a bit tricky but for the quality its worth it

comes with a bundle of effects...reverbs,e.q.s,compressers,ect.Has a cool guitar amp simulator too.I love it.

Its worth ever penny.

Sound:
sounds very loud and clear with my m-audio delta 10/10lt soundcard.I use a bunch of 50.00 low budget mics and it sounds fine.

Ease of Use:
I went from an old 4track cassett recorder to this and didnt know jack about pc recording.I thought this would be a nightmare to use but I was wrong.The program is basic and gets you recording tracks right away.I record ten tracks at once on my pc with 1gig of ram,2.0ghz and it playsback great.

As with ease of use, the lack of a PDF manual to download and preview, plus terrible customer service, pull down the quality of the product itself. These are not unrelated.

Desirability:
Get Reaper or Cubase. Really.

Ease of Use:
Had to rate the ease of use as terrible, not due to the program's interface, but two important criteria: 1) An absolute lack of a PDF online. Further, while the full Sonar version is available online, there is no way to download the Home version for tryout. And if you did, you won't have a PDF manual to work from anyway. 2) They have so far failed to send me the serial number in order to install this upgrade. 6 emails and 6 attempted calls have not gotten through.

Support:
I've been a user of Cakewalk products for over ten years. The support on my most recent purchase has been horrendous. All I asked for was the proper serial number for the product that I purchased directly from their site. They take nearly a week to answer emails, and their phone system is often offline during posted working hours. Incredible.

Overall:
I am so disappointed.

you can forget ANY tech support. the company won't reply to email or phone calls for help!
