Very, very nice phaser. I must admit, I never tried any other phasers but it's got 4, 8, 10 and 12 stage phasing, rise, fall, and step. The phasing can be set from a smouth, warm rotation to an all-out freakwave. If you turn the depth and res knobs all the way up and the rate really fast, with a 12stage phaser you can get really cool sounds that sound like the music you hear when your in a puke-machine at a fair. The step function is what I've always wanted. I heard it once in a Zoom multiFX box (I hate those things) and it sounded awesome, but I could never find a step-pedal. Turns out THIS one has a step function :) really psycadellic sound, although a step without phasing would be nice (but try to find one of those ;)). You can actually use it to tone-shape your sound aswell if you turn the depth all the way down to 0, and mess with the phase stages. Each seems to have a diffirent EQ aswell so you get 5 to 7 EQ setting right there. The rate and res don't matter anymore then because the depth is at 0. Don't use that ofter though, but the phasing is really, really nice. And, well, it's a boss, don't expect it to break, ever, at all.

This is the only phase I found with a 12-stage phaser...it has a really awesome, sweet sound. I also love the Rise and Fall settings. The Step setting could possibly be useful, but I don't use it (it's a really cool effect though)

first, I place a (4) on quality and value because I've not tried the unit. Based on my other Boss pedals, I would have gone for a (5) because they are rock solid. But it seemed more fair to lay back on the rating since I haven't actually tried it.

Roland has added new stages, tap tempo, and step phasing (I heard the MP3 - sounds really cool). I have been wanting a solid vintage-tpe phaser because none of my multi-effects do phasing well. Some of the possibles were this unit, the MoogerFooger (Big Briar by Bob Moog) Phaser, and the Intelliphaser by Akia. They all have different features. The Boss seems to have the broadest range, but doesn't include all. Alsom I don't know hiw it compares sonically with the Big Briar, but it does have a different choice of stages.

All things considered, I don't think I can go wrong with the PH3. I am wondering if they will discontinue the PH2. ??

zZounds has verified that this customer bought this product from us.
Feature:
It didn't include an adapter. It has an expression/control jack for your expression pedal or footswicthes. It has 4 knobs, RATE, DEPTH, RES (Resonance) and STAGE. (taken out of the PH-3 manual)>>>> The RATE knob adjusts the speed at which the filter changes. The DEPTH knob adjusts the depth of the filter change. The RES knob adjusts thje strength of the filter effect. The STAGE knob selects the niumber of the phase steps and the phase type. 4: 4-stage phaser; a light, vintage phaser effect with a classic feel. 8: 8-stage phaser that gives a balanced phaser sound. 10: 10-stage phaser providing a deeper phasing effect. 12: 12-stage phaser, with 2 six stage phasers combined to give a powerful pahse effect. FALL: Phase effect that makes a falling sensation. RISE: Phase effect that makes a falling sensation. STEP: Phase effect the randomly chooses filter modifications creating a weird effect.

Quality:
It's a Boss. It is built to last.

Value:
It is well worth over $120.00.

Desirability:
It is green!!!!! How much more horny/sexy can this thing get?

Sound:
This thing sounds so cool! Look at the intro to 'Breakout' by the Foo Fighters and the intro to 'Nowhere Fast' by Incubus (and a crapload of other Incubus songs). With this pedal you can emulate those exact sounds. The RISE/FALL setting is hypnotizing. The STEP setting is literally out of this world. There are also 4-/8-/10-/12- phase stages.

Support:
I haven't contacted Boss and I won't need to.

Overall:
I love this pedal. The features are awesome and the sound is wonderfull. Great pedal. Go out and buy it. NOW.

Feature:
it's great having all of the different phase selections

Quality:
great Boss durability, HOWEVER the pedal produces a SEVERE reduction in volume when activated and you cannot adjust the level so it is completely worthless in terms of being used as a pedal. Why the hell would you want to use a pedal that lowers your volume everytime you want to use it no matter what?

Value:
i n a live PEDAL application it is useless

Desirability:
for its usefull applications I would just get a better rack mount effects processor.

Sound:
Sounds are great! Psychedelic step phaser is really cool at a low rate

Support:
dont know havn;t needed it.

Feature:
Great! 7 different phasers. one that goes up, on that goes down, and others that go all around. and the steping stage gives me the coolest synth sound.

Quality:
hard as a rock. i can break some one's head with it

Value:
i suppose that it's worth the price. next to the ps-5 its the best damn single padel i heard.

Desirability:
the light green color aint a big turn on.

Sound:
Amazing, every sound the box has on it is very smooth and very sweet. this padel can range from a melodied jazz sound to a kick ass synthsetic sound

Overall:
if you can mix any other effect padel with the phase shifter. you will get the ultimate modulation sounds.

Feature:
Awesome Rise, step and fall modes, shakey tap tempo feature though

Quality:
willo last as long as you don't break it in your frustration

Value:
Go with a cheaper MXR Phase 90 or the Electro Harmonix Small stone is nice too.

Desirability:
cool color, good company, cool features

Sound:
Awesome step, fall and rise mode but a severe volume cut in regular phase mode just demolishes this pedals worth. I'm sorry go with a cheaper MXR

Support:
N/A

Overall:
honestly am looking to buy a better phaser just a month after buying it
