"The best pedal for adding character to your sound."

Overall: 4.5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Overall, Its a little on the high side for a pedal. its worth every penny ive spent for it. It is a critical part of my sound. I think boss nailed it with this pedal.
Sound
Its a great pedal. The pedal insn't really meant to be your main drive pedal. Its supposed to be a pre-gain pedal to color your sound before you start adding fx. It sounds great though. I have an old bassman head and when I use this pedal with a Epi Valve Jr. Combo it almost sounds as good. You can hear all the dynamics with your playing very well. The pedal is extremely responsive to the touch. All in all I usually have it chained going like this: FBM-1 - Reel Echo - Fender reverb unit - Epi Valve jr.
Features
You can control Gain, Level, Highs, Mids, Lows, and Presence. You cant really ask for more out of a pre-gain pedal.
Ease of Use
It takes a little while to dial in your sound since there are so many variables. But once you do, you'll love it. It is really easy to go from a high-gain setting to a softer setting which is good for swing.
Quality
Its a nice Boss Pedal. Built like a tank. It has a cool coating onthe outside of the pedal. Gives it a cool new feel
Value
A little on the steep side for a gain pedal. But I htink its really worth the money spent.
Manufacturer Support
I haven't had to deal with them as of now. Thats a great thing.
The Wow Factor
It is a pretty sexy little pedal. With the coated exterior and the bassman print on the pedal, I think it is one good looking pedal.

Sound
I have a Fender Jazzmaster Ultralight 250 watt amp. Its a two piece light weight setup. It gets very loud and stays very clean. I'm doing a lot of country and needed a good tube sound with a Telecaster. And I need loud for big clubs. I was considering buying a Bassman LTD but the 50 pound package just kept me from doing it. Lugging around 50 pound amps anymore hurts. So I opted to give the Bassman pedal a try. Man this thing turned my amp into a 250 watt tone monster. This is NOT a distortion pedal. It does have a gain control that will break up like a tube amp when cranked but its not distortion what so ever. If you have a solid state amp and wish you had more tube sound then look no more. Or even if you have a tube amp of any kind and would like to try the classic Bassman sound. You would use this as a pre amp first in your chain. Its like plugging into a Bassman amp first then to all the rest of your pedals if you use them. Have to say this is one of the best bang for buck things I have bought.
Ease of Use
30 seconds and you got anything you want.
Quality
Built like a tank. Classic looks.
The Wow Factor
Looks sexy and sex drips out of my amp.
