It solves problems and adds fidelity
in ways that my other gear doesn't do.
The price for what it is is fantastic.
Background hiss in it is very low while it
can crank out more signal level than I need.
I had essing problems with vocals. I tried to
side-chain an EQ into a $400 DBX compressor,
and it didn't help my problem.
The De-esser in the VX2000 was able to solve
this problem.
The compressor is simple and sounds good. The
downward expander can remove the hiss from my
line without artifacts in the recording.
The tube emulation is practically a fidelity
switch. Without it my sound is OK, with it my
sound is great. It adds both warmth and clarity,
bringing those middle harmonics out that recording
equipment has an affinity for.
I've never seen anything like it. It as as cool
as my Aphex Exciter.
