It solves problems and adds fidelity
in ways that my other gear doesn't do.
The price for what it is is fantastic.

Background hiss in it is very low while it
can crank out more signal level than I need.

I had essing problems with vocals. I tried to
side-chain an EQ into a $400 DBX compressor,
and it didn't help my problem.

The De-esser in the VX2000 was able to solve
this problem.

The compressor is simple and sounds good. The
downward expander can remove the hiss from my
line without artifacts in the recording.

The tube emulation is practically a fidelity
switch. Without it my sound is OK, with it my
sound is great. It adds both warmth and clarity,
bringing those middle harmonics out that recording
equipment has an affinity for.

I've never seen anything like it. It as as cool
as my Aphex Exciter.

Feature:
The Tube Emulation in FULL BW add nice top end openiness and harmonics. But I don;t use it often. Mayeb i'll try it on some whisper tracks. I Like the opto Compressor. Very nice. The Eq is cool. Especially for warming up stuff. The De-Esser chain even bypassed dulls the sound tremendously. I'd skip it altogether.

Quality:
It's a Behringer.

Value:
Excellent Value for the Money.

Desirability:
Ugly, but functional. Focusrite is much sexier.

Sound:
The low mids are not as full as i would like, but I really love this piece on BGV's. The compressor works great

Overall:
It will be here for a long time. It has it's use and I will use it good.

Our bass player, who is usually not impressed with anything new and doesn't notice the differences in tonal qualities, really loved what this did for lead vocals. Instead of buying a multi-channel compressor, we have now purchased 5 of these (one for lead, and 4 for backup vocals). The quality of the sound is excellent, and I love the fact that it has XLR in and out connections, making the snake useable while still having the effects up on stage. The vocals are more powerful now because of the high quality compressor, and the silence is dead silent with the gate. The EQ functions are labeled in real-world terms, making it very useful. It can also make our vocals much louder than a mic straight into the mixing board, which is always a good thing with the volume we produce.

I've been in broadcasting for 25 years, and for the price it can't be beat. Use it in my home studio with the Behringer B-1 condensor microphone and for about $250.00 the combo is great. Use the RE20 and SM7 every day. Have AKG mics at home and the B-1 keeps up for one-fifth the price. The VX2000 is worth every dime, compares to Symetrix. One thing though, don't bother with the tube emulation feature.

Look at the similar products then invest wisely! Product is well rated in the industry and affordable to all. Transparency is great and will add so much to your mix. I recommend it highly to home studio musicians and also for performing live.
I am definately not disappointed in the quality and will buy behringer products in the future.

Overall:
Tube emulation is the only thing I skipped. It doesn't emulate the tube sound; it just adds statics. Leave it OUT! Everything else works well and enhances the sound. I bought this after using ART tube MP because of its static after two years of use though ART worked beautifully on vocal. The machine is very light and seems delicate, I wouldn't want to bump it. Previous review said something about the thing breaking down early in use, I would just hang it on the rack stand and leave it alone.
