Being a college student and playing in a confined space, this amp is great for those of who want to practice and not irritate the neighbors (or roommates); it's also powerful enough to play with a drummer, if you want to. Some of the effects are really great, while others are fairly mediocre. Great features include the harmonizing effects and some of the unorthodox settings, i.e. the "magic drive" setting. The delays and reverbs are lacking for the most part, but there are some good ones if you look hard enough. The footswitch is a bit tiresome, as there is a period of silence when switching between the clean and distortion channel. However, the distortion channel sounds VERY good, especially for such a little amp (I personally enjoy a "wet" sounding distortion; I'm not a metal-head). It can produce sounds similar to Trey Anastasio and Jonny Greenwood, but it can rock out and you can get a sound like AC/DC or Eric Clapton if you want it (with the addition of some effects and manipulation of the tone knobs on your guitar). I should probably inform those reading that I play a Telecaster with this amp and it sounds great, especially when playing the blues. This is really an excellent deal for under $200, especially for more experienced players who want sonic options but can't lug a 100-watt Marshall combo and effects pedals around campus.

If you are looking for a smaller practice/warm-up amp that you can also record with, is LOADED with features, and can be had for under $200 (yeah, I know that's asking for a lot) - look no further!
It is like having 12 different amps at your disposal. You want Eric Johnson's type of melodic smoothness it's there, if you want some Angus Young power crunch just choose another preset, need some Dean DeLeo grunge you got it!
Clean channel stays clean all the way up the volume scale while the distortion comes through even at low volumes. And all of it is finely adjustable via the FX mix and the 3-band EQ.
I may be the first on the block with this new toy - but I won't be alone for long.

(Submitted from a harp player's point of view)This little puppy is a screaming machine. It will get hot and punch through to the front of the crowd. I was looking at this purchase as something with a variety of effects (which it has many) and also being a TUBE EMUATOR. Tube emulator it ain't! Doesn't even come close. If you are looking for ear-piercing high, bright, Oh Man! This one's for you. But, if you are looking for smooth mids and lows - that classic blues tone, look elsewhere. Even though you have the 10" Jensen, this puppy can only bark - it can't reach down and grab those dirty lows.

The effects are mediocre. There's a couple that I like (chorus delay being my favorite). If you have a kid that's just beginning and wants to get the feel of playing a varitey of effects this amp runs the whole gambit and then some (what the heck is "auto wah?").

Anyway, if you are a serious axe player or harper I think you'll want to find something with a little more meat to it. Forget the effects, you'll only use one or 2 anyway. Put out a few extra bucks and buy something you'll be satisfied with.

God Bless

Great for a low budget and the desire to create different sounds from your guitar.
Easily cranks out tube sounding distortion at low volumes so you don't have to blow the house
down or go deaf practicing.
