If it got lost I would look for another AT mic. Either this one or the AE5400 or AT4054. All LDCs with stage credentials.
Sound
I would describe the sound as fairly neutral, smooth and clear with a hint of vintage about it. It is a large capsule mic, so it has that larger dimension to its sound. It also responds very well to a touch of EQ in the studio environment. It has a small rise around 3kz and a bit of a spike around the 10kz spot for cutting through on stage but it doesn't come across as fizzy like the chinese equivalents at all.
Features
This AE3300 is a rare piece of gear because it is a large diphragm mic set up for stage vocals. You won't find many reviews of this mic so I thought I'd throw one out into the net. This has the element from the well respected mic the AT4033, a mic I've never used but have heard good things about. It also has a 10dB pad and 12dB rollof at 80hz, which makes it very versatile and similar to many studio mics for flexibility.
Ease of Use
This mic really suits my voice so I have given it centre stage in my home studio. Because it is shaped like a 58 style of mic .... it's really easy to position and fit into your space. It also means I can take my studio sound out with me to gigs when I perform.
Quality
Audio Technica are solid and reliable. I have five of their mics and they always feel like they're going to outlive you.
Value
Very good value and if it suits your type of voice it is a "Desert Island" mic for its versatility.
Manufacturer Support
Never had a problem with any of AT's gear.
The Wow Factor
This mic is very elegant and has a classy, solid appearance.
