This pad is great at a very reasonable cost. It is exactly what I was looking for. zzounds was extremely fast in processing my order and shipping. It arrived after only a couple days from the time I ordered! They were also very helpful with customer service.

Nice look, horrible pad surface, like placing your beater on a 2x4 piece of wood. Forget getting any support from Alesis.
Sound
Sounds like your knocking on wood, loud surface. Not good on the shins, its like beating on a block of wood.
Features
Easy setup
Ease of Use
It would be nice if you could hear the bass drum sound over the knocking of the wood.
Quality
Built well, except the playing surface fails miserably. They need to consult with a REAL drummer before deciding to make a kick trigger out of a block of wood.
Value
Its ok if you can drown out the wood knocking noise.
Manufacturer Support
Called 3 times, sat on hold for over 30 mins and never picked up. Beware of Alesis support--if you can call it support.
The Wow Factor
I thought I wanted it till I played it for less than a minute and knew it was a big mistake buy.

"Weak trigger, or to sensitive of a trigger."

I bought the DM10X kit a couple months back. I just bought an extra "bass drum" to use instead of using my double pedal.Well, the sensitivity between the two in not even close being the same. I've switched around the cords to make sure it wasn't those. It is for sure the pads. I took a Y connector to the output for the bass drum, and put each one in to the female part of the adapter, as you should. When you hit each pad with the same velocity, they do not respond the same; one is a lot more sensitive than the other. So of course, this is highly annoying when playing with two bass drums...one louder than the other.Yes, the pads are loud when you hit them and annoying, but you can get used to it, as long as the rest of the kit has that same annoyance with the other pads.So if you are thinking about getting a second kick for your set, beware!! The triggers maybe not respond the same.Something to think about!!Good luck!
