Feature:
I love the HD-24! I love the people who decided to finally make it!

Quality:
The product is made well. The BUTTONS that are pressed, to be of constant use, are too delicate. There are ample and solid materials that can be used to make this product perfect.

Value:
Yes!

Desirability:
The sex appeal; give me a break! Technical Marvel; I'll give you that. Practical Use; #1 priority! Color; Silver/Black/Grey are the colors of the Industry Flag! "the sheer genius of its design or features), that make you lust for this piece of gear even if you could make good music without it?"; You would need to hire me to answer this question. But I have 3 jobs.

Sound:
When technology does what it is designed to do, life is good! A machine that works for me, and waits for me, that’s all I ask for. The ALESIS HD-24 is my current answer. I only wish all other manufactures would adopt this philosophy. This would assure a cease to economy and creative issues. [What ever happened to - “Together we Stand”?

Ease of Use:
Sound is as relative to taste, as it is to site, smell, and touch. However, the Alesis HD-24 is one means of technology that blurs the lines.

Support:
I have dealt with a company rep. He was very helpful to fix my problem of "Track-10" not able to calibrate to “0-db.” However, I have recently reencountered this problem, but I’ve learned to live with it. I do wish to someday have a Full 24 Track Unit... This may be a QC issue, or poor choice in materials? As long as the Brain works, and I can write my music, your “political red-tape” is somewhat palatable... And mind you, it’s not all due the price - because you must always consider the current economy status. I still worry about how much will it cost to fix it, or buy a new one. But if you, and others, would make anything that would last 50 years, you would have a reputation that would last 100 years! And that means loyal customers for 100 centuries! You do the math...

Overall:
How long do you expect to be satisfied with this product before searching for another product?: The answer to this question would be based on your QC department, and/or “political-red-tape” issues... - Will you supplement it or replace it?: Either, or? The saying used to be “Money Talks”... Now it’s “Bills Talk Louder!” - What would lead you to search for another product - would you wear this out, seek some specific features, keep this but seek additional or different sounds and features?: Based on your support... Wear and Tear... I’m not sure that I can find a better company/manufacture of such a great product? But again - The answer to this question would be based on your QC department, and/or “political-red-tape” issues... - How would you compare this product to others you considered, and why did you choose this one (if you bought it)?: Yes - I bought it! And if I bought and used the others that I considered, then I could give you more details... I chose this one because I own 3 ADAT-XT’s, and a BRC, which helped get my job for TV. But I quit that gig because my health gave up, just before the ADAT’s did! Fortunately, the ADAT’s died. I’m still alive! - Does this product help you meet your musical goals?: Totally and Absolutely! - If the product were lost or stolen, would you replace it or buy something else - if so what else?: Due to plausible compatibility issues, I would be forced to replace it, If I had to get something else all together, I would get an alternate and permanent, likewise, reliable system and stick to that. - What do you wish you knew before you bought it?: I’ve been around long enough to find Alesis! - What do you like most about it?: The Artistic Freedom that such technology could, and should, allow the Artist! - What do you like least about it?: The Buttons! They’re too fragile to handle on a constant basis... Sorry... [fg]

Feature:
I'm so glad I didn't have to pay extra for 24 analog inputs and outputs. I do use the Ethernet port, but I wish it was faster. Unfortunately, the manual I have is written for Windows 98. I certainly don't use that version anymore. I'll probably get the Firewire adapter eventually. The fact that it uses standard IDE hard-drives is awesome. Friggin' awesome.

Quality:
Rock solid. I have no worries. Had it for a year with no problems.

Value:
I am extremely annoyed that the price has come down in the last year since I bought it. Also, they're offering that free firewire port again, which wasn't available at the time I purchased the HD24XR. So, basically, it's an awesome value right now. Sucks for me.

Desirability:
Couldn't live without it. I did shop around quite a bit before hand, and this is the best for the money, as far as I'm concerned.

Sound:
I have little extended experience with anything else, but this thing records and plays back faithfully. I've actually stopped using 96khz mode because 48khz sounds excellent.

Support:
The manual is not bad, but its complete lack of Windows XP networking instructions has been annoying. I'm sure the networking problems I've had have more to do with guessing about how to make the thing work in XP than anything else.

Overall:
I'm expecting to be using this thing ten years from now.

Feature:
The two hot swap hard drives really make this easy to use and store old recordings. The ethernet port comes in real handy for those wanting to edit on their PC or Mac.

Quality:
I have been able to depend on this machine to not break down and perform great every time.

Value:
Price could always be lower but if you can find a good dealer willing to come down a little bit then it makes it a great find.

Desirability:
She is a sexy beast sitting next to your console with the lights off and the gauges jumping.

Sound:
Sounds great

Support:
I haven't had to call support yet so I'm not sure how their service rates.

Overall:
This works great for any situation. I've mostly used it for live recording of a band I mix for. I use it every week and it has been very stable and definitely worth the money. I haven't had the chance yet to use the ftp capablities, but I really look forward to try that out sometime. I even thought about getting the firewire add on so that I can transfer files via firewire.

I have had this for less than a month, and it does not work anymore. It is poorly designed and manufactured.

Overall:
i am returning thisw product and hopefully finding a product that will work for longer than a month.
