I own 3 of these and use them for overhead and hi-hat mics. The built in pad is a nice feature. I have also used them to record a trumpet and have had great results.

Built in pad is a nice feature when using them with drums.

"perfect drum overhead mics"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
I had been using a pair or behringer C3's for overheads before purchasing the perception 170's. The C3's just did'nt allow my cymbals to really shine through in the mix. i did some research, and decided to go with the 170's. best decision i've made so far. i use those as a right and left and I have a Sennheiser 421 as an overhead center, and everything comes through beautifully. I reccomend the 170's to any and all drummers. For the price they cant be beat.
