Feature:
It's got a plug...it fits into my equipment. Not many choices for accesories on headphones, I guess. A case for them, maybe - that would have made this one a "10".

Quality:
Seems to be built very well, tho a sturdier cord would be a nice addition.

Value:
Way better quality than all of the cheap headphones out there, and not so expensive that they get left off the list for consideration.

Desirability:
Sharp-looking headphones, extremely comfortable during long listening sessions.

Sound:
Granted, these headphones don't have the unnatural audio curve that a lot of listeners have become accustomed to (exaggerated bass, really bright high mids), but that is because these headphones are for TRUE AUDIO REPRODUCTION. Very natural sounding, and a viable mix choice: mixes made on these headphones translate VERY WELL to the real world (car/boombox/stereo system).

Support:
Have needed no support. They work great.

Overall:
I would definitely buy these again, if I needed to (tho I plan to take care of these and make them last a long time!). I chose these over scores of other headphones specifically because they were rated for a very FLAT RESPONSE. True audio reproduction was my goal, using these for tracking, mixing and mastering album projects. I must say that I don't actually "hear things that I never heard before in the mix", but I DO know that what I have mixed on these, sounds virtually the same on other standard audio systems. I don't know why they bother having a dual plug (1/8" and 1/4") since most computers and portable units (1/8" miniplug) will need an additional headphone amp to drive these adequately. The only things that I would do to improve the value would be a heavy guage cord, and a case.

Feature:
Well, what kind of features do you get with any headphones? Not much. Very comfortable to wear for many hours.

Quality:
At first, this unit seems cheaply made. Don't let it fool you. I've had a set for 13 years, and they are in as good condition now as the day I bought them. That's 13 years of consecutive studio use, and not handled with kid gloves. They get tossed around, stepped on, crushed by guitars and all sorts of other studio equipment, and I've rolled over the cable with my chair at least a hundred times, and not a single problem with them. They are very tough.

Value:
These are the best sounding headphones I've ever used at any price. The fact that they are very reasonable priced makes them even better.

Desirability:
The best.

Sound:
Crystal clear highs and lows at all volume levels. Can take very high volumes and stay clear.

Support:
N/A - haven't had to deal with AKG, no problems.

Overall:
I've had mine for 13 years. I've tried others and have been very disappointed in comparison. I'm going to buy 2-3 more sets of these.

Feature:
The product came with a 1/8th inch to 1/4 inch adapter. Its very useful when plugging in to higher wattage or older systems.

Quality:
Made in Austria high quality. i feel like i could run these over and they would just bend and them pop right back on my head.

Value:
I would expect to pay 400+ for these headphones. I have tried ALL of sennheiser's products and none of them match up in value and quality

Sound:
Wow. I just bought this pair of headphones and they are amazing. There is no other word. The crispiest highs and the subsonic lows flow so perfectly i dont know what to do with myself.

Ease of Use:
Just plug the headphones in and they are beautiful. No gimmicks.

Support:
Very Friendly.

Overall:
As with any headphones, the listening quality is determined by not just the headphones but the headphone amp that is driving it. 600 ohms is demanding on most headphone amps, but most mixer headphone jacks will accomodate these phones adequately. Which is good news, since the k240m are the only ones I have come across that could fill in for near field monitors. Maybe it is magic or the result of much research and engineering, but the k240m gives me separation of all instruments and super stereo imaging. Not just L to R panning, but amazingly front to back imaging and clarity of all instruments. Check them out.

Feature:
Threaded 1/4 to 1/2 adapter - good connection

Quality:
Never had another pair that I could wear for 10+ hours 3 days in a-row.

Sound:
Make sure you have a nice amp to hook these up to. They have a high power draw, but sound great if your amp can provide clean sound.

Ease of Use:
You plug them in and use them.....easy enough.

Support:
AKG stands behind their product, but as they know these are Pro headphones they charge a flat rate for ANY issue, which is nice sometimes - if you really mess 'em up - but sucks other times when you just need a simple part or easy repair.

Overall:
I have been satisfied with this product for over 8 years now. Here it is half way through 2006 and still have yet to ever find a better set.

No they are not loud - They are accurate, detailed and actually give you a soundstage that is comparable to a near field monitor mix.
You should still check your final mix to your main monitors for reverb and front to back soundstage dimensions. However after years of use and many sets of 240's I am never surprised by my mains when I compare.

I use these in my home studio. They are fantastic! Everything sounds so clear. With a headphone amp these supply more than enough volume. Some people should just stick with the 55 ohm phones.

I work in various Los Angeles area recording studios on a daily basis and almost all of them have these cans. They are very comfortable, provide a detailed and accurate reproduction of your performance - especially on vocals.
I have also used the Sony's mentioned here which are quite good, but heavy and a bit fragile. Drop the MDR once or twice on the floor and you are bound to have a broken hinge-post where the phones connect to the main frame.
True, you should run the AKG through a HP-amp, but I wouldn't want to work in any studio that didn't have one! (Can you imagine leaving your headphone volume level up to an engineer?!?!)
