"MPC feel and Sound!"

I come from the golden era of producing using keyboards, drum machines, adat and da88 tape and analog mixing boards and outboard gear. Recently I've been not getting that same feeling I got when I used analog gear and using the computer to sequence is convenient but it's missing something. Using the MPC studio brought back that feeling for me where I used my ears and felt the music instead of using my eyes and seeing the music. I love it! My only issue is they don't make it easy to use outboard gear and the plugin part of ti doesnt function as well

I had been interested in the MPC Studio ever since it was announced, but being that I was a Maschine user and never touched an MPC before I was a little uncertain and skeptical at the ease of use. Well let me tell you this piece of gear is well worth the money. Not only for the portability, but once you get into learning it you wont want to put it away (not to mention the fact that the recent price drop makes it even more affordable). Plus, the MPC workflow is actually alot easier to master than the "patterns" and "scenes" of another square shaped device with colored pads and makes song creation really fun and quick. Last but not least the pads on this thing feel amazing and trigger with a light press or a hard tap (all dependent upon your playing style). Overall, this device has a lot going for it. The only minus I have so far is that the buttons are rubber and not the hard plastic of other MPCs, but they are a durable rubber so its not that big of a deal (just a little weird when my nails hit the rubber).

I must say that I was skeptical about this product because I am a long time user of MPC's and NI products. I currently own The Ren, The Maschine Studio, The Mikro and now, The MPC Studio. I thought not having the 16 Q-Links would alter my usage but it actually allows you to scroll and does a great job of separating the screen to utilize the 4 Q-links. I actually find the Studio to be more comparable to using the MPC 200xl than the Ren. The Ren is more reflective of using the MPC 3000. The quality and feel of the Studio will surprise the typical user. The lack of an adjustable screen is not too big of a deal and if you are using a laptop, just prop it on the edge and you will be be fine. The knobs are all low profile which gives it more secure feeling when packing it into a travel bag. The Mikro frightens me with the scroll knob sticking out as far as it does. The included sleeve is a great addition. I have made 8 beats over the past couple days of owning this product and Its on the money. If you are a pure MPC head like I am, I would tell you to go with the Studio. If you have a dedicated workstation and don't feel the need to travel with anything, Go with the Ren. The Studio is a great product to have if you travel or just feel like veggin out at a starbucks or a park and wish to be creative. I am giving Manufacturer Support a 5 because I have not had to use support on any of my AKAI products and to me, that's support enough.

I am so so so glad I finally got my MPC Studio. I started collecting samples long before I got it but with the ton of samples provided, I don't think I will ever use them all. I purchased it for my studio work but It is having a huge impact on my bass playing. Its adjustable swing feeling is a killer!!!! I used it on various beats for my bass practice (I play a lot of African dance music). It helped me understand and feel the difference between playing in time, making it swing and playing with various levels of swing. The same tunes I've been playing for decades now sound soooo groovy!!!... Wow!!!!!

I've been producing music professionally for 17 years. I started on an MPC60II, then went to the 2000 and settled on the 2000xl. I know these machines by heart and can work them blindfolded. That said, the new software based MPCs have sped up my workflow tremendously! Sampling and chopping is a breeze, bpm matching and changes are as simple as can be and having a all parameters mirrored on screen is a life saver. Once you upgrade to v1.8 things really come alive. The software is 90% there with more updates on the way. I'm loving the speedy new work flow. Welcome for the new era.

Hip hop producer. Sample based but play several instruments.

Musical Style:

I play both kinds of music...hip and hop.

This is a great product. Coming from the Akai 2kxl, this is a huge upgrade for me. No more recording tracks one at a time into pro tools is a great time saver. I've had no problems at all with the software running on win 7 professional. Highly recommend you get it.

Easy installation, user friendly. If you are like me you want to just jump right into it, reading users guide is a must though. Also youtube has many videos on operating the system. Only downside is the size which is rather smaller than I expected.

I'm new to the Akai MPC Must say I'm falling love with it. Just going through the process of learning the work flow by checking out youtube plus order groove3 tutorial. I would highly recommend this Groove production hardware you really feel like your part of the music even if you are using sampling for added creative juices . I had to build a stand @ an 45 or degree angle hard to see the screen when it laying flat on a table.IT is to pricey for a general laptop lift. There is a slight problem with Rewire VST plugin for Reason and the New Akai MPC software v 1.9.7 Reason sequencing seem to keep cycling and you can not stop it. So I had to downgrade to 1.8.2 this works fine, though I would like to take advantage of Akai MPC 1.9.7 new features. Akai support is iffy still waiting for response
