I purchased MIXCRAFT 6 after a lot of reviewing of the DAW market. This one seemed to fit my needs at the moment, and it works well. Its a great beginner program, although, it does feature some advanced features. So if your looking for something that works fast and is easy to use, this might be the ticket for you. Out of the box I was up and running pretty quick. I am using a Presonus AudioBox interface and works well. I am disappointed with the ability right now that I can only record one track at a time, but my interface is limited. I may have to upgrade so I can at least do 4 tracks live. However, Acoustica did state to me in an email, if your interface can record more, then you are only limited to that. One of the coolest plug ins it comes with is the SHRED guitar amp sim...very cool! On the other hand, it does come with a few other chorus, delays, and eq's as third party VST plugins, that you can find free on websites out there.. But if you have your own VST preferences, you can integrate those in and go. My previous mixing board/recorder was a Yamaha AW4416 and that features a 4 band parametric but MIXCRAFT 6 doesn't. It comes with a 3 band eq, much like a regular solid state mixer, so that one of the limitations. So if you want more eq, you're going to have to go the VST route. Speaking of routing, I don't do any of that, so I don't know if it can sub mix, etc. Some of the graphics aren't as robost as other programs, but you're not paying a larger price... Overall its a great beginner to intermediate program, and you should be happy with it if your hobbist musician. However, if you are serious about recording, there may come a time when you out-grow the features and require something more feature packed.
