Looking for a powerful, portable PA system?
There are quite a few ways to set up a Bose L1 portable line array system. For starters, you've got your choice of the top-selling L1 Model II system, or the lighter, more affordable L1 Model 1S system. Next, you can boost your L1 system's low-end output by adding Bose B1 or B2 bass modules -- and with the optional Bose PackLite power amp, there's no limit to how many B1s or B2s you can add to your system. You've also got the option of adding the T1 ToneMatch Audio Engine -- a digital mixer that gives you expanded I/O, presets to match your mics, and tons of built-in effects. Follow our step-by-step guide to customize your Bose L1 Model 1S or Model II system just the way you like it.

L1 Model 1S: Cover crowds of up to 300
The power stand for the Model 1S supports one cylindrical radiator -- a 12-speaker array that provides 180 degrees of sonic coverage to crowds of up to 300 people. Bose's slim vertical speaker enclosure breaks down into three pieces for easy storage and transport: the power stand with retractable legs, the bottom extension which elevates the speaker array, and the cylindrical radiator speaker array on top. Once assembled, the Model 1S system stands 79.4 inches tall and weighs 48.5 pounds.
Combining performance with portability, the L1 Model 1S delivers a maximum sound pressure level (SPL) of 112 dB continuous and 118 dB peak.
The L1 Model 1S power stand's integrated power amplifier can drive up to two B1 bass modules, or one B2 bass module. To use up to four B1 bass modules or two B2 bass modules, simply add the Bose PackLite power amp. No matter what your setup, the power stand senses the number of bass modules connected, and adjusts the system's EQ and level accordingly.

L1 Model II: Cover crowds of up to 500
With a tower of 24 speaker drivers -- twice as many as the Model 1S -- the Bose L1 Model II system can cover crowds of up to 500 people over a 180-degree angle. The Model II stacks two 12-speaker cylindrical radiators to create a 24-speaker array that's supported by the Model II power stand. With its three pieces assembled together, the Model II stands 84 inches tall and weighs 57.4 pounds.
Like the Model 1S, the Model II's integrated power amplifier can be paired with up to two B1 bass modules or one B2 bass module for bass extension down to 40 Hz. Add a PackLite amplifier to use up to four B1 or two B2 modules. The Model II also features a 1/4" bass line output jack that can feed a third-party powered subwoofer.
Bose's most advanced L1 system, the Model II delivers superior tonal balance, coverage, and higher output, with a maximum sound pressure level (SPL) of 115 dB continuous and 121 dB peak.

Bose B1 Bass Module
For musicians who need a lightweight, portable solution for amplifying full-range instruments such as keyboards, male vocals, or percussion, Bose offers the B1 Bass Module. With two high-output 5.25" drivers built into a rugged 15-inch-tall enclosure, the B1 adds balanced bass and depth to L1 Model I, Model 1S and Model II systems -- while adding only 25.1 pounds to your system's weight. A built-in handle makes the B1 easy to carry.
If you're using multiple B1s with one L1 system, it's a good idea to stack them to take advantage of the natural bass boost caused by acoustic coupling of the two cabinets. The B1 Bass Module has interlocking end caps to help you stack up to four B1s.

Bose B2 Bass Module
If you need powerful, detailed bass response for larger audiences, Bose has the B2. Just under two feet tall and weighing 45 pounds, the B2 bass module is loaded with two 10-inch subwoofers to deliver the low-end punch required for DJing or other higher-SPL music applications. The B2 is housed in a rugged enclosure with a built-in top handle and interlocking end caps that come in handy for stacking up to two B2s at a time.
To provide the ultimate in versatility, the Bose B2 has three switchable output settings: Normal (bass guitar/kick drum/main PA), Plus (DJ/music playback), and Minus (acoustic guitar and vocals). Set the switch on the back of your B2, and your L1 system will automatically sense the setting and tailor its output accordingly.

Enclosed in a metal case and weighing only 3 pounds, the PackLite provides 250 watts of power, allowing you to drive two additional B1 bass modules or one additional B2 bass module. Ideal for bass players, drummers and DJs, this compact amplifier produces a bigger bass presence without coloring your tone, and connects to an L1 power stand in seconds.

Your Bose L1 Model 1S or Model II comes with a single 1/4" analog input. Connect the optional T1 ToneMatch audio engine to expand the system to 5 input channels: three XLR-1/4" combination inputs with phantom-powered mic preamps, plus a stereo pair of 1/4" line inputs.
Beyond adding more input channels to your L1, ToneMatch expands your performance potential by giving you access to powerful, easy-to-use sound-shaping tools. Every T1 ToneMatch Audio Engine comes loaded with 100 Bose presets for everything from an SM58 to an electric violin. After selecting a ToneMatch preset, sweeten your sound with Bose's proprietary zEQ, which calculates high, mid, and low frequency bands within the range of the particular instrument or voice you're reinforcing.
With the T1 ToneMatch's easy-to-use rotary encoder, you have quick control over ten separate modulation effects, seven dynamic processors, five reverbs, and three unique delay types on each channel, so you can radically alter your sound even between songs.
