With a maple-topped nato body and a pair of alnico VH3 humbuckers with a push-pull tone pot, the RevStar RS420 is stripped-down, yet offers wide versatility.

What's special about this item?

Feature: What it does:
Maple top Long sustain with crisp, bright tone
Nato body Sounds similar to mahogany; warm, dry, airy tone
Nato neck Smooth feel and a modern tone
Rosewood fretboard Open, warm tone and smooth playing feel

The step-up features of the Yamaha RevStar RS420 puts it in a class with more expensive professional instruments. The RS420 features a maple top over nato body. It has a thin neck profile with medium frets. The custom Yamaha designed alnico pickups provide a powerful dynamic tone.

The push-pull tone pot activates the dry switch. The dry switch filters out low frequencies to give the punch and clarity of a single-coil pickup minus the inevitable hum and hollow tone often associated with split humbucking pickups.

first of all, this thing arrived perfectly set up. I didn't have to do anything but tune it. no fret buzz, no intonation problems, the action couldn't be better. it looks great, it sounds great, and it plays great. and I've been banging around on it all day since it arrived with only a couple very minor tuning adjustments to be made. that said, the "dry switch" does seem to do a whole lot. there's a very, very subtle change in tone when I use it, but nothing that makes be go "wow, that really sounds a lot different". so if that's the feature you're most interested in, you might be better off with something that has a coil tap. the tone know as well is a little bit scratchy. I can fix that, but I'd rather not have to. overall I'm satisfied with it, and have just been having a blast all day on this thing. oh, and I'd also like to mention that when I called zZounds to speak with a tech about the purchases I was considering, he was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, and enthusiastic. I should have gotten his name so I could put it in a memo line in my order, because he was just fantastic. and answered after only one ring too.
