The Yamaha FG730S is a finely constructed, great-sounding dreadnought acoustic guitar with a solid Sitka spruce top and rosewood back, sides, and fretboard.

Your Yamaha FG730S acoustic guitar gives you an intimate folk sound at an affordable entry-level price. Warm resonating rosewood back and sides complement a stylish Sitka spruce top that contrasts nicely against a tortoise pickguard, and a comfortable nato neck features 20 frets over an invitingly smooth rosewood fingerboard. Holding each string down is a rosewood bridge that adds an additional dark contrast against the Sitka spruce top and black and ivory binding around the neck and body.

A Beauty from Yamaha's Folk Series

Yamaha's Folk series acoustic guitars are a great place to start looking for your starter axe. These babies bring the warmth and alluring tone generated by choice tonewoods like rosewood and spruce without destroying your budget. The dreadnought body shape delivers a comfortable feel, a big sound, and an iconic image. This acoustic axe also works well as a backup guitar in case you break a string or have any other issues in the middle of your set.

Rosewood and Spruce Body

Sitka spruce is a popular tonewood for acoustic guitar tops, offering an eye-catching linear grain pattern that matches agreeably with the tortoise pickguard. Rosewood will yield a deep resonance with a push on the lower and middle frequencies. Both tonewoods will do wonders for your tone by crafting a full-bodied sound with crisp articulation and projection that works well with many different styles of playing.

Smooth and Cozy Nato Neck

The nato neck on your Yamaha FG730S read more features 20 frets over a rosewood fingerboard. Both the body and neck have attractive black/ivory binding that not only looks great, it provides a silky feel. The action on this neck is comfortable for your fingers no matter where you play on the fingerboard. Nato is often referred to as "eastern mahogany" because it yields a resonance somewhat similar to mahogany -- pushing the lows and mids while bringing in some additional sustain.

I'll never sell it. If was stolen, I'd immediately buy another one!

Sound
This particular model is absolutely fantastic! With a sound that is very deep and vibrant. Its almost unfair to be able to buy such a great sounding guitar for so little. I'm a seasoned pro, toured and recorded with a handful of Grammy winners. And I'm very picky, but not so wealthy anymore. So, I needed a serious bargain on an oustanding instrument.

Ease of Use
I lowered the action by grinding the bridge sadle down about 2mm, then tightened the truss rod about 1/3 turn. I used a little vasoline on the nut to smooth the tuning and walla! This guitar would difinitely hold its own in a contest against just about anything short of a $3,000+ Gibson or Taylor. Actually, I have a suspicion that in a blind challenge it may even rise above the super-priced brand-names, just so long as you set it up with my easy little mod that I just shared with you here.

Quality
I'm excited to see how much better the tone will be as the wood ages. I wouldn't change a thing.

Value
Oh my! It's just plain silly to consider anything else in this price range. Unless you're more concerned about something aesthetic. I only say this because this guitar might be somewhat plain in appearance, but everything else about this guitar is superior to other acoustics in its price range.
