Sound:
Yes it squeaks. I finally took a closer look at it. If you pry the bottom apart towards the back, the flat part of the bottom slides right out exposing the innards. The squeak comes from the switch sliding against the pedal - it's a metal on metal connection. I just took a Q-tip and jammed a glob of Vaseline in there and the squeak went away. Machine grease would probably be better but I was in a hurry.

Feature:
On - Off what more could you want? ...
Quality:
Typical Yamaha indistructable quality.
Value:
Price is on par with other items of the same type. I chose this one over the others for Yamaha's high-quality reputation.
Desirability:
I would have liked to have the option of a two or three pedal ganged set for piano (soft, sost., sustain) in one housing. They do tend to wander about on the carpet (and other flooring surfaces).
Sound:
What a category for a pedal! ... but useful. This is Yamaha's weak point on this one. Squeak, squeak, squeak. Down pedal, up pedal look at it funny and it squeaks. Kind of negates the point of having a digital piano with headphones for late night practice if the pedal wakes the neighbors. I've got four of them, they all behave the same.
Support:
Yamaha has a many websites for product info and help. I don't expect I'll ever need tech support for the pedals. But I use them often for my keyboards and wish-list. Documentation is always clear, and they maintian a library of manuals for their discontinued models too. Many sites are a mixed blessing. Sometimes information is available only on a specific country site.
Overall:
I've got four of these dohickeis ... the plan is to gut three of them and reassemble those in a wooden box for use with the piano. The other one stays in the gig bag for use on the road.
