I contacted zZounds to buy an amp, and also wanted to get a sub for outdoor music. I was offered a few options and had seen a number of a review comparison of and EV sub to Yamaha DXS12; the DSX12 won hands down. I also saw another comparing the DSX12 to the DSX15 and the review noted the air movement produced by the DSX15. I took a chance and am very pleased with the purchase of the DSX15. The sub is solid built, and heavy about 87 pounds, but has handles to move it, I recommend a cart or get a friend to help carry if its for a long distance. There are 3 frequency filter options, master volume/gain, DSP and invert. I set mine to about half way, and control master volume from the mixer. Easily carries sound/bass thump outside to 300 feet clearly, and not muddy. Many times this is recommended as a pair I use it as a single with two 15" 2-way tops on stands. The finish looks like it will take some abuse and still look new, has a hard painted texture finish. You can get a cover for it as well. I highly recommend this sub for the sound, quality, and performance. It will not disappoint you.
