Wampler Paisley Drive V2 Overdrive Pedal

Built to Brad's not-so-simple requirements, the Paisley Drive V2 features high-grade film capacitors and responds well to pick attack and volume control.

The Wampler Paisley Drive overdrive pedal gives your signal a nice and crunchy tone with some "beef" to it -- without losing clarity or tonality, even when you hit your axe hard. This compact stompbox features volume, gain, and tone controls to shape your output. You also have a presence switch to bring in some additional brightness, along with an EQ shape switch to shape your tone. This pedal is small, rugged, and ready to hit the stage or recording session anytime you need deliver that powerful, yet well-articulated Paisley-style overdrive. This updated V2 edition of Wampler's original Paisley Drive has upgraded jacks and new graphics, giving you more of a good thing.

Built to Brad Paisley's Specifications

Brad Paisley has been using Wampler pedals sine 2009, but he was interested in getting a heavier overdrive with more body to it that didn't lose articulation or tonality during aggressive playing. Wampler built the Paisley Drive overdrive pedal to Paisley's request -- and now you can harness the punchy yet clear overdrive this pedal delivers.

Level, Gain, and Tone Control Dials

The Paisley Drive has three control dials to shape the character of your output signal. The level control determines your overall output level, the gain control brings in the amount of breakup, and the tone control darkens or brightens your sound. This pedal responds well to your picking style as well as your guitar's volume knob, giving you more control via your axe for more hours read more of uninterrupted rocking.

Presence and EQ Shape Settings

In addition to your control dials are two switches: a presence switch and an EQ shape switch. When engaged, the presence switch will add a little extra high-end sparkle to the table. The EQ shape switch has three positions. When flipped down, your guitar tone gets a stronger, thicker midrange boost. In the middle position, the midrange is pulled back, and the up position provides a balance between the first two settings.

New In Version 2

Although the circuitry is exactly the same as version 1, this updated model of the Paisley features new graphics for a sharper look. Also new are the location of the jacks, which are on the top instead of the sides of the pedal, and the new "soft relay" on/off switch, instead of a mechanical switch, for years of reliable operation.

Wampler Paisley Drive Overdrive Pedal

The Wampler Paisley Drive V2's in-built tonal controls, presence and mid contour switches will make this pedal the single most versatile and complete overdrive pedal you have ever owned. In fact, Wampler believes it might be the last one you ever buy!

Since late 2009, Wampler discovered that Brad Paisley was using their Pedals. He started with the Faux AnalogEcho, then got an Ego Compressor and then had the Underdog overdrive.

Everything was great until his tech at the time, Chad, mentioned to Brian that Paisley still was not quite settled on the overdrive sound he was getting from his live rig, could Wampler maybe look at making a pedal?

Paisley's requirements were quite "simple." It needs to be clean but get crunchy with some "beef" to it. It needs to have a fluid tone when soloing. It needs to add a little hair to the tone but then but then has to be able to give flat out ball busting gain, oh... but please do not wreck the tonality. It needs to have everything, in a pedal format, but do not make it sound like a pedal!

Over a period of months, Brian made some circuits and sent them off, there were a couple of "tweaks" here and there to be made and then finally, when official "prototype #2" landed it went straight into the live rack and out on the H20 world tour.

Features:

- High grade film capacitors and resistors picked for their superior sound and response
- As used by Brad Paisley live and in the studio
- 2 switches - controlling presence (brightness) and midrange frequency contour
- Can be very transparent or have a warm midrange bump with no loss of bottom end
- Relay true bypass with soft switch
- Top Jacks
- Cleans up exceptionally well with pick attack and volume control
- Battery connection and 9v power jack (barrel plug)
- Hand-built in the U.S.A.

This pedal has a lot of really versatile settings to it, not just for country music. I've had a lot of good comments on my tone since I put this pedal on my board. Lots of gain on tap and has a great EQ; the mid contour and presence switches add a lot to this pedal. I wouldn't call this a "plug and play" pedal; it took me a few minutes of playing it through my Peavey Classic 50 212 to get it where I wanted it and I'm having a little bit of difficulty with getting it to respond to the different strengths of my pick attack. Overall, a sweet sounding drive pedal that you can use from low to high gain and bright to dark. Great for any genre of music.
