Wampler Dual Fusion Tom Quayle Signature Overdrive Pedal

Get the sound of a cranked tube amp with the Dual Fusion -- a versatile overdrive pedal made to keep up with Tom Quayle's unique style and demanding playing.

Your Wampler Dual Fusion Tom Quayle signature overdrive pedal is an awesome combination of the Wampler Paisley drive and the Wampler Euphoria overdrive pedals in a compact footprint. The Modern channel features a gain control and a throaty/natural toggle switch. The Vintage channel has drive control and a smooth/fat toggle switch. Each channel has its own set of tone and volume control dials, so you can shape your signal's contour on one channel without changing the other. The versatility this pedal provides is difficult to match, so you'll enjoy spending hours playing around with different sounds and tonal colors to craft your sonic signature.

Wampler demonstrates the range of tones the Dual Fusion can dial in:

Stackable Vintage and Modern Circuits

On the right side of your Wampler Dual Fusion pedal is the Vintage channel. This setting provides a warm vintage-tube-amp-like breakup that's impressively transparent and very responsive to your picking and strumming techniques. Although this channel is great for blues licks, it works well for virtually any genre. On the other side, you'll find the Modern channel, which colors your signal with little more aggression and a nice amount of sustain. This channel is great for fusion players, but, like the Vintage channel, it works well for rock, country, blues, and pretty much any other musical style.

Controls and Switches

The gain and drive controls on your Wampler Dual Fusion pedal determine the amount of breakup and read more distortion. The volume controls roll in the decibel levels, and the tone dials set how dark or bright your signal sounds. The vintage channel features a Smooth/fat toggle switch that brings in a little more of the lows and mids for a fatter, beefier tone. On the modern channel is a throaty setting, which will give you a humble mid-range boost.

Playing with Your Signal's Directional Flow

The switch in the middle of the top of your pedal determines the signal flow -- channel one going into channel two, channel two going into channel one, or separate 1 and 2 on their own footswitches. Each setting alters your signal in its own unique way, so having this switch around will give you plenty of additional sonic options to explore.

Handcrafted Circuitry

This baby is built with love. Each component of its circuitry was crafted with your axe's output in mind, so that every time you stomp on your Wampler Dual Fusion overdrive pedal, you get consistently warm, rich, and awesomely articulated sonic force. This system features a true-bypass configuration, so your signal maintains its natural and unadulterated character when your pedal isn't activated in your signal chain.

Rugged and Ready for the Road

Whether you're in the studio, your bedroom, on the road, or at your rehearsal space, this pedal will be at your side ready to deliver on demand. A tough outer casing keeps your signal and this baby's inner circuitry protected from dust and sweat, and you can be sure that it won't grow weary from the rough and tough atmosphere of frequently gigging on the road.

Wampler Dual Fusion Tom Quayle Pedal

The Dual Fusion pedal from Wampler Pedals is, they think, the first overdrive pedal specifically voiced to the fusion guitarists.

Fusion in its current form is a fairly recent concept, with roots not only in theoretical jazz but rock; not classic blues based rock, but the more technically advanced "shredders" that first became popular in the mid to late 80's.

The fusion players have spent years honing their craft. With the advent of internet guitar lessons, people all over the world are looking towards fusion as their style of musical expression, the modern era of soloists that are taking the instrument another stage further.

Sometime in mid 2011 Wampler received an email from Tom Quayle showing an interest in their pedals. So, after some discussion Tom bought a Euphoria and a Paisley Drive. From the moment he plugged them in, his tone had been taken a huge step forward.

When playing high energy Fusion, you need dirt that follows every move you make. It needs to allow the guitar to work and respond perfectly, and with Wampler Pedals, Tom found this.

When Wampler got to meet Tom in person that following January in NAMM, a discussion took place where Tom told them what he loved about that combination and what wasn't quite working. They loved his thoughts. At the show, a concept was born that took just over 12 months to be realized.

So, what was that idea? It was quite simple (well, it appeared that way). Take those two circuits, highlight the most usable tones, modify them extensively to ensure that they stack perfectly and then put them in the same box. Also, make the stacking switchable...C1 into C2, or C2 into C1. While you are there, separate them with dedicated inputs/outputs should you use a looper switching system. Basically, make it as versatile and useable as possible.
Upon receiving the first proto type, Tom said "The major improvement is just how amp-like the response is. In that department I have never played a pedal that is as good as this. It sounds exactly like a gainy tube amp and feels like one too. It's very exciting and fun to play through - you totally forget that you're playing a pedal."

How does it compare to the originals? Well, that is a good question. The main thing you will notice when playing the Dual Fusion is that the gain structures are more refined on both sides, both sound slightly more natural and they are more organic. Transparency is the word. When you stack them together the transparency of them really shines through.

I've had my fair share of overdrives through my 15 plus years of playing mad I had never tried a Wampler. I hit myself in the head for not having their brand on my board earlier! I upgrade from a Bogner Ecstacy blue and have not looked back. Absolutely versatile overdrive with great stacking within itself potential! Don't pass this pedal, or brand up! Play Wampler!!!
