Description
Multimedia
The AD100VTH features VOX's Valve Reactor found on all Valvetronix products. The Valve Reactor circuit uses a 12AX7 triode vacuum tube together with an actual low-wattage tube power amp circuit, a virtual output transformer and a dummy speaker circuit that simulates the impedance changes of a real speaker. It also reconfigures itself so that its characteristics are the same as the amps it's modeling (class A, class AB, negative feedback circuit, etc.). This means that all of the nuances of the original amp model including sound, feel, distortion and presence are reproduced accurately.

Eleven realistic amp models using sophisticated modeling technology -- A total of eleven coveted amp types are provided. Starting with the classic AC30 and ranging from vintage to modern, higain to clean, a variety of amp models are built-in, giving you an incredible range of sound-creating potential. Selecting the amp model and adjusting the tone controls is as intuitive as it gets -- just turn the knobs!

Eleven high-quality effects cover the basics -- Nine standard effects indispensable for any guitarist are built-in. These include auto wah, compressor, phaser, chorus, flanger, tremolo, rotary, delay and reverb. With the addition of combination-type effects, you have a total of eleven effects to choose from. Each effect lets you adjust several parameters. There's also a Tap button that makes it easy to set the delay time or modulation speed.

Save your user programs in CH1 or CH2 -- Channel Select mode lets you save two of your own programs, including the combination of amp and effect settings. You can access either channel at a touch, for immediate switching while you play.

Easily select the classic sound for each amp type -- The new Preset mode gives you a tonal starting point for each amp model. You can enter Preset mode at the touch of a button, and then simply choose an amp model to automatically get the preset sound for that amp. Select a Preset, modify it and save it to CH1 or CH2.

Manual mode lets you hear your exact sound settings -- In Manual mode, the sound you're hearing will be exactly what the knob settings indicate -- just as on a conventional amp. It's visually intuitive, so it's quick and easy to create just the sound you're looking for.

Convenient line/headphone jack for home recording or late-night practicing -- You can connect the line/headphone jack to your mixer, multi-track recorder or headphones. Since the character of the cabinet is also added to this signal, the sound will have a sense of 'air' and depth even when you're listening through headphones or recording direct. Effect-loop jacks have been built into the AD100VT making it convenient to connect with external effect processors.

Adjust the output wattage of the power amp -- The AD100VTH lets you adjust the output wattage from 1~100 watts so you can lower the volume without losing the sense of drive that's unique to tube amps. You can get the great distinctive tube sound at a volume that's appropriate for any location.

Footswitchable control -- If the optional VFS2 dual foot switch is connected, you can use it to switch between user programs (CH1, CH2) or to bypass the effect. Alternatively, you can choose to have the footswitch activate Manual mode instead of Effect Bypass, which gives you hands-free switching between three different sounds (the two user programs and the Manual settings) for convenience during a live performance.

Vox AD100VTH Valvetronix Guitar Amplifier Head (100 Watts) Reviews

"Amazing Tone, Tone Tone TONE!"
Feature:
11 amp models, 11 digital effects, 2 program channels. pretty great features, not enough program channels though, that's why it get s a 9. But the effects sound great, and the amp models are really remarkable, very tube-like!

Quality:
Looks great, seems solid, sounds awesome, good warranty, no complaints there, and it's nice and small and light, with plenty of power, very loud!

Value:
For the price nothing matches it's tone. Don't be fooled by the Line 6 amp head at the same price. Sure it has 400+ presets, but WHO CARES! if the presets sound like digital junk, then who would want them anyway?

Desirability:
It looks cool with the metal grate on the front. It's a VOX (so no laughing at you at a real gig when you wip out your crate or line 6). And it sounds so shimmery and beautiful and loud!!!

Sound:
The Tone is the number one feature of this amp. The sound is why i bought it. I had a 120w Crate half stack with DSP and stuff, it sounded terrible, so digital, so thin, so weak. It was too bad. Well my friend had a really nice 4X12 I could borrow, so all I had to do was buy a good head to have a great amp! so I looked around alot in my price range, and this one sounded better than anything anywhere near the price! the first head I found that actaully sounded better (slightly) was a $1,800 head. Awesome! What a sound! Very Tubey! (on account of the tube inside). Big, warm, beefy, crisp, loud, life-like, growly distortion. IT WAS THE SOUND I'VE ALWAYS WANTED.

Ease of Use:
the setup on the top, and with the footswitch is just a tiny bit clumsy, that's why it gets an 8, but it doesn't matter, because it sounds like a mesa boogie, or soldano for more than a grand less.

Support:
They have a good Customer support line, although i've only used it to ask some questions about the warranty, just out of curiosity.

Overall:
I've been playing in bands for years, I've always wanted a mesa boogie triple rectifier. Well, I've never had that kind of money. One day at a music store I stumbled on the valvetronix series. What a sound! Very Tubey! (on account of the tube inside). Big, warm, beefy, crisp, loud, life-like, growly distortion. IT WAS THE SOUND I'VE ALWAYS WANTED. Now, if you have 1,800 dollars to blow, get the triple rectifier. But, if you live in the real world like the rest of us, this amp will come as close to it as possible for hundreds of dollars less! I bought it a week later, and i am in love with it. Every time I play it I am blown away by it's pure tone! Great job on this one VOX, please buy this amp.

"bam"
Feature:
Los of features. Built in effects and diff amp models. Only negative is that it didnt come with a footswitch.

Quality:
Some people have complained that their unit has burnt out of failed on them. They must have gotten defective products because I know a few people with these and they work great.

Value:
$400 for this sound is fine with me. I had a Krank Rev series one amp and I loved the sound. This thing is more versatile and its 1/4 the price.

Desirability:
looks very nice. Doesnt take up a lot of space and is pretty light.

Sound:
The sound on this thing is very good. It models the different amps very well. I was thinking about getting a peavey valveking head, but this one sounded much crisper and more present.

Ease of Use:
Pretty straight forward. Pick your sound, dial in and play.
