The Universal Audio Apollo Twin Duo puts UAD-2 processing power on your desktop -- along with a pair of mic preamps and all the I/O you need to track and mix with your DAW. What's more, this 2x6 Thunderbolt audio interface offer's Universal Audio's Unison technology for mic preamp emulation, so you get sweet analog-modeled sound even before your signal hits the Apollo Twin's high-end 192 kHz/24-bit converters. With real-time UAD DUO processing at your beck and call, you can tap into an incredible library of modeled tube and solid-state plug-ins for tracking, mixing and mastering. When you add the Apollo Twin Duo to your desktop recording rig, you get the best of hardware/software integration: superior digital audio capture matched by big analog-studio sound.

Apollo Twin Duo vs. Twin Solo

For an outstanding price point, the Twin Duo gives you twice the DSP power of the Solo model, with dual-core processing in a desktop-friendly footprint. For high channel counts and processor-intensive mixing, choose the dual-core Apollo Twin Duo.

2x6 Analog I/O -- Plus 8 More Channels of Optical Digital I/O

In a sleek yet rugged aluminum housing, the Apollo Twin Duo is sure to stand out on your desk. The Apollo Twin Duo sports two mic/line preamps, 4 analog outputs, a front-panel headphone output and Hi-Z instrument input, and two digitally controlled analog monitor outputs. Using the interface's Optical connection, you get up to eight channels of additional digital input, and a Thunderbolt connection ensures super-fast PCIe-like speed and reliable performance on your Thunderbolt-equipped Mac. It's just what you need to record your music with real-time processing and near-zero latency.

UAD Plug-Ins for Tracking and Mixing

This Thunderbolt-ready audio interface extends UA's Apollo series of audio interfaces, providing the same 192 kHz/24-bit audio conversion and UAD DUO processing. Treat your tracks to Universal Audio's full range of UAD plug-ins, emulating gear from the likes of Lexicon, Manley, Neve, Studer, and more. With the Apollo Twin Duo, you'll have instant access to the digital versions of classic analog gear, from vintage EQs, compressors, and mic preamps to tape machines, reverbs, and guitar amps, while working within your favorite DAW.

The Apollo Twin Duo includes the Realtime Analog Classics UAD plug-in bundle, which features Legacy editions of the LA-2A Classic Audio Leveler, 1176LN Limiting Amplifier, and Pultec EQP-1A Program Equalizer, along with Softube Amp Room Essentials, 610-B Tube Preamp, and more.

Unison Technology: Mic Preamp Emulation

Unison mic preamp emulation technology puts models of classic tube and transformer-based mic preamps at your fingertips, giving you the same tone, impedance, gain stage "sweet spots," and component-level circuit behaviors as the original gear. Record through realistic emulations such as the UA 610-B Tube Preamp plug-in, and hear the difference in your music.

Features:

- Desktop 2x6 Thunderbolt audio interface with 192 kHz/24-bit audio conversion

Product Description

The Universal Audio Apollo Twin Audio Interface reinvents desktop recording by delivering legendary analog studio sound, feel, and flow to music creators everywhere. This 2x6 Thunderbolt audio interface for Mac combines the same impeccable 24/192 kHz audio conversion of Universal Audio's acclaimed Apollo series with onboard Realtime UAD DUO Processing. Plus it introduces Unison(TM) technology, a breakthrough in classic mic preamp emulation. Record your music in real time (at near-zero latency) through the full range of UAD plug-ins -- from Neve, Studer, Manley, Lexicon, API and more* -- putting racks of vintage EQs, compressors, mic preamps, tape machines, reverbs, and guitar amps at your fingertips.

A Universal Audio breakthrough, Apollo Twin's Unison technology gives you the tone of the world's most sought-after tube and solid state mic preamps -- including their all-important impedance, gain stage "sweet spots," and component-level circuit behaviors. Based on unprecedented hardware-software integration between Apollo's mic preamps and its onboard UAD plug-in processing, Unison lets you record through stunning emulations like the bundled UA 610-B Tube Preamp plug-in, with more emulations coming soon.**

Apollo Twin's smart feature set includes two class-leading mic/line preamps, two analog line outputs, two digitally controlled analog monitor outputs for full resolution at all listening levels, and up to eight additional channels of digital input via Optical connection. Onboard UAD DUO Processing lets you use UAD plug-ins both during realtime tracking and for mixing within Pro Tools, Cubase, Logic, Ableton Live and more.

With its ergonomic desktop design, rugged aluminum construction, and front panel headphone and instrument connections, Apollo Twin has all the right tools, all in the right place.

Features:

- Desktop 2x6 Thunderbolt audio interface with world-class 24-bit/192 kHz audio conversion

- Up to 8 channels of additional digital input via Optical connection
- Uncompromising analog design, superior components, and premium build quality
- Includes "Realtime Analog Classics" UAD plug-in bundle, featuring Legacy editions of the LA-2A Classic Audio Leveler, 1176LN Limiting Amplifier, and Pultec EQP-1A Program Equalizer, plus Softube Amp Room Essentials, 610-B Tube Preamp, and more

Customer Reviews
4.5 out of 5 (2 ratings) Rate and Review This Product
zZounds has verified that this customer bought this product from us. "Universal Audio's Apollo Twin"
Overall: The Apollo Twin is a great interface that helps to off-load some of the strain that your CPU can encounter when using plugins during recording and mixing. I use it with a Mac Mini i7 and 16gb of memory and can tell a significant difference in CPU usage in Logic Pro X and ProTools11 compare with my Focusrite Forte or my Antelope Orion. The ability to track with EFX in the cans and chose whether to print the track with or without those EFX is a nice feature, but doing it with minimal latency (I personally detect zero latency, but YMMV) is awesome when you consider this is a desktop interface. I've owned many interfaces from RME, Focusrite, MAudio, Antelope, Mackie and the Thunderbolt on the Apollo is right up there with most systems I've used and it really performs a bit better than the USB and Firewire options I personally used. I'm pretty sure the Apollo Quad will be my next investment with UA, very satisfied with every aspect of the ATwin. Solid!
Style of Music: Pop music.
