T-Rex Tonebug Distortion Pedal

There's no need to clip your amp's wires like Dave Davies anymore. This pedal delivers vintage-style overdrive and distortion with one easy-to-use gain knob.

When guitarists in the early '60s started experimenting with distortion, it took rock music to the next level. The earliest attempts were crude, with some guitarists even slitting their amp speakers to get a "fuzzy" sound. But amplifier makers eventually figured out how "overdrive" a main amp with a hot signal from a preamp to bring true distortion to the world of rock.

Simply classic

Tonebug Distortion is a phenomenal-sounding pedal that delivers gobs of rich, tubey-sounding distortion you'll recognise instantly as a fundamental ingredient of classic guitar rock. And it couldn't be easier to use. A simple Gain knob lets you choose how dirty you want to get, while a Tone knob lets you tune the timbre of your distortion -- from a muted bluesy crunch to a searing wail that'll slice through anything in its way.

T-Rex tone

Like the Tonebug Reverb and Overdrive pedals, Tonebug Distortion delivers the same legendary T-Rex tone that's made their top-end products a fixture on the pedal boards of guitar greats around the world (see the website for recent T-Rex sightings). That, combined with cool retro design and rugged constr tion, makes Tonebug Distortion a pedal you just won't want to play without.

Permanent addition to the arsenal. Out of (possible) 100 or more dirt boxes..It comes down to these 4... Marshall Shredmaster, T-Rex Tonebug Distortion, Analogman modded MT-2 and the cheaper than cheap sleeper, the Washburn "Soloist Distortion" (Yup!.. I LOVE it) I'm always on the prowl but this is a keeper fo sho!
Sound
If you like the Marshall Shredmaster...Then this is the next best thing. I have tried them all! As close to a Shredmaster as you're gonna get without shelling out $150-$200+. Sublime grind. Tight bottom, smooth mids and cutting highs. Outstanding pedal!
Features
Simple 3 knob job. Gain,Tone,Level. No "blinding" LED (Thank GOD!)
Ease of Use
Plug and play...If you know what you're doing then it's just a matter of a few minor twists of the knobbies! Obviously use a quality Tube amp.
Quality
Feels completely solid metal casing. Metal knobs. Nothing plastic or cheap about this pedal.
Value
Best $99.00 bucks I ever spent. Beats out the MI-Audio Crunch Box, anything Fulltone makes. Kills the Emma reezafrazitz, Pummels the Carl martin Crush Zone, etc, etc..I could go on and on....Forget Boss or EH. Grab this one.
Manufacturer Support
Can't say. Haven't had to contact them. Hope I won't have to.
The Wow Factor
Aesthetically, it's utilitarian. It has an "unassuming" presence. "Looks like a butterfly, Stings like a scorpion".. Make no mistake. This about the sound. Take the leap.
