Roaring British-Invasion Overdrive in a Stompbox
The Tech21 SansAmp Character Series Liverpool infuses your guitar signal with biting British overdrive, with plenty of tonal dynamic playing room to explore. This pedal replicates that bright and sharp sound of a classic diamond grille amp in a single compact pedal, with level, mid, character, drive, low, and high control knobs to shape your tone. A speaker emulation switch allows you to use this baby as a stand-alone recording tool, if you want to completely bypass setting up a microphone and an amp during your recording sessions. However you use it, the Liverpool pedal is your shortcut to that retro sound -- without having to ship an amp across the pond.
From Vintage to Mod Rock
This powerful and dynamic pedal is part of Tech 21's Character series of amplifier-emulating pedals, which means you're essentially getting the sounds and sonic reach of full-blown amplifiers in a tidy and compact pedal. That icludes the character from the tube preamp and power amps, all in a single stomp! Specifically, your Character Series Liverpool pedal imitates an early-'60s classic british amplifier with suprising accuracy -- supplying you with everything from that vintage British invasion sound to a Mod Rock midrange boost.
Dialing in the Overdrive
Just like a classic amp, this pedal gives you a simple control layout to craft your signal. The level control sets the volume level, and the drive controls how much distortion gets added to the mix. A powerful three-band EQ control gives you up to +/-12 dB of boost/cut in the middle, high, and low frequency bands.
British Amp Modeling in a Pedal
The Character control is what really helps this baddie stand out as an amplifier-emulating pedal. Right in the middle, this control's neutral mode gives you just a taste of breakup. When you push it to the left, you get a sparkly and more jangly British Invasion sound with less distortion and low end. When you move to the right, you get a midrange boost with some added breakup. You can use the Drive control to help shape the breakup -- so grab the knobs and explore the spectrum of amplifier emulation this pedal is capable of.
Switchable Speaker Emulation
The dedicated Speaker Emulation switch allows you to engage or bypass the speaker emulation circuitry in your Character Series Liverpool pedal. Turn this on, and you'll get the Tech 21 SansAmp version of English Alnico Bulldog-style speakers -- a useful setting if you're going directly out of your pedalboard into a recording rig. Want to plug into an amp of your own? Disengage the Liverpool's speaker emulation and you'll get a darker sound, which pairs well with how amplifiers can brighten up your signal.
