"Has Changed My Performances to Amazing! Buy it!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
Verified Customer zZounds has verified that this reviewer made a purchase from us.
If you are a single performer and you are considering the Touchlive Play GTX at all, not only should you buy it now, but you should buy it ONLY at Zzounds. period. I researched and reviewed for over a month before deciding to purchase the unit and I chose Zzounds because of their no hassles, questions, and runarounds for returns and a 30 day price guarantee. I decided to give them a shot...... I'm more than happy that I did. First, as a hardware, the GTX is solid. Nice decent weight and the switches are top notch and heavy duty. I don't expect problems at all with wear and tear. Very nicely built and designed. Should go for a very long time. Second: It does exactly what all the reviews and videos say it does. There are a gazillion presets that I will never use, but more than enough to begin exploring and discovering tremendous accurate, full harmonies and effects. This has completely changed my show, my presentation, and certainly expands my range to be able to perform songs that before my voice simply strained enough to reach that I bypassed them. Not any more. The key to success for me is using it subtly, not showcasing it every song so that when you do use it, the unit makes you shine and jaws drop as you produce the realistic, live harmonies. I've just touched the tip of the iceberg as to all this thing offers and accomplishes. There are so many combinations that you will spend hours and hours experimenting. If you use this unit as an "every now and then during performance", read more you will WOW audiences without end. As you practice and explore, you will discover certain songs that you will say, "That would sound good if it only did a little more____and just a bit less of ____. No problem. A bit of practicing with the soft button controls will allow you to create and mix harmonies, doubling, thickening, and much more for your very own custom presets. Even better, when you find those you love, simply give them a name, touch the FAV soft button and it's saved as a favorite. By being able to connect this to your computer through VoiceSupport, you may then create archives of sets of favorites and name those sets. Time for the Big Gig, go load your "Big Gig" presets. Tommorow you have the Little Gig........go load the "Little Gig" presets. Awesome for making custom sets. And Voice Support does so much more too. You will never regret what this little baby does for your voice. Because your voice actually sounds as good as it does through it, you will actually achieve better vocals just from the confidence alone. I would pay a lot more for this device and not very long ago would have had to if this kind of quality was even available. I only have one real concern that could present problems in the future. Sometimes when plugging it in, it will simply freeze on a blue screen and not come on. So far, simply unplugging and re-plugging it in reboots it just fine, but I fear the day I'm setting up for a performance and it freezes and will not un-freeze for me. Happens about 20% of the times I plug it in. I know this is an issue as I see on the forums that others have had the problem and had to go through a lot to get it working properly. Hope this is something they address in the future. My ONLY other wish (which is so minor) is that it had an on/off switch instead of having to plug it in and out each time. This might help with the frozen blue screen mentioned above by not having to directly plug it in and out each time it's used. I have not had to use Helicon's Support, but from what I read on the forums and see how others have presented problems and had them solved, seems they are great to deal with. Hopefully won't need them at all. It's built so well, it should last a very long time. I will be purchasing a second VoiceLive Play for my keyboard. Not only am I doing so for keyboard extra mic with harmonies, but this IS a machine and machines CAN fail. A performance night is NOT the night to have this happen. At 249.00 it's a deal to have the peace of mind that I can "wing it" should one of them fizzle out on me at a gig. I haven't recorded with it all yet, but when I do next week, if I'm able to update this review I will. I also purchased the M-75 Microphone to be able to have another option of changes. Very worth it and a nice, well rounded, and accurate sound from this. I'm as happy as I was with my Shure SM58! It has a great sound and a bit less prone to the feedback I had with my Shure. I also bought the Switch 3 footswitch here. Which brings me to the guitar effects. They are good, the quality is excellent, and very customizable, but it defeats my acoustic guitar sound demands, and I will be using my own looping means instead of the unit looping. It works well and the 15 seconds can be easily converted to 30 seconds and now they have upgraded it (free online) to a full 60 seconds if you take away the "undo" feature. My problem isn't with the unit, it's because I own a fine Taylor guitar that I demand a certain sound from and the unit, even with it's new presets to accomodate acoustic guitars globally cannot match the sound I command no matter how much I customize the settings. But many others use this preset and global acoustic setup within the unit just fine and happily. I use my Taylor through a Boggs DI and the sound is incredible. I'm not willing to compromise that in any way. Therefore I could have saved 100.00 and gotten the Voicelive Play without the GTX and been just fine. But they all work well, balance well, and the looping works great! Third: I can't praise Zzounds enough! These guys put it all right out there where their advertising says they do. I went ahead and set up 4 payments. Instantly, no hassle, no problems. Sent the first payment and on the second day I had all three pieces. One week later I found it at a sale price elsewhere and when I wrote Zzounds they immediately gave me the same discount and credited my account!! I've emailed them several times both before and after the sale. They always answer professionally, courteously, and very, very, very quickly. And they honor what they say they will and that's a lot in this day and age. I am currently in a toss up between two audio interfaces. Both of them will work well, but Zzounds doesn't carry my first choice. Rather than walk into the store here and purchase that first choice, I'm purchasing the second choice (also a good choice) from Zzounds just from the way I've been treated and honestly dealt with. I'm not even going to pick up my strings at the local store anymore. It's worth the extra little bit in shipping because of the service I've already been given. They are a forever "my place to purchase" store. I'm about to invest in a Bose LII 3,000.00 sytem. Zzounds will get my money. I can't say enough good things, but I've tried here. You won't be sorry dealing with these folks. So get the stuff and start performing like you always dreamed you could.
