Overview
The Taylor K66ce Koa Grand Symphony cutaway acoustic-electric 12-string guitar is one the most gorgeous and spectacular-sounding 12-strings out there. Each K66ce is made from hand-matched sets of Hawaiian koa wood, to create guitars that deliver a great sound that matures and becomes richer over time. All-koa guitars are often described as sounding more like a high-end maple top in their early years, before eventually opening up to a rich and warm tone reminiscent of mahogany. The Taylor K66ce has a Venetian-style cutaway, with fret access up through the 17th. Taylor's Expression System pickup, designed in collaboration with Rupert Neve, gives you a great way to amplify your guitar quickly and dial up a great sound in plugged-in situations.

Koa Wood: Subtle, Yet Eye-Popping
Visually, the koa-bodied Taylor K66ce is a real stunner. The natural beauty of the koa top, back, and sides is brought out dramatically with a special gloss finish. The super-high-end gold plated tuners sparkle on the headstock while the eye is drawn to the unique all-wood Island Vine-style inlay that runs through the ebony fretboard. An Entire Symphony in a Single Guitar
The Grand Symphony 12-string was specially designed from the ground up to deliver a bigger voice than the Grand Auditorium design that inspired it. Its dimensions are only slightly greater than the GA, but by placing these expansions in the right places, Taylor has created a 12-string guitar that has even more throw and punch than… read more you'd expect. Its highs and mids sparkle, but the low end remains thick and articulate. Its strong voice is supported by a special 12-string bracing system that balances its tone perfectly across its entire frequency spectrum on both sets of strings. This also prevents the guitar's top from becoming overdriven.A Revolutionary Acoustic-Electric System
The Expression System on the K66ce reflects was another of Taylor's great innovations. In collaboration with the legendary audio engineer Rupert Neve, Taylor was able to create an internal preamp capable of reproducing the Taylor K66ce's incredible natural sound -- but without adding the noise or coloration created by most drop-in pickup systems. Taylor did so with a hybrid system that functions more like a series of tiny microphones. Multiple body sensors, inserted into critical points inside the guitar, work together to deliver a complete and accurate acoustic image. The ES's brilliance is completed with an audiophile-grade Class A preamp with 2-way Bass/Treble EQ and balanced line output! This makes an excellent way to work with your guitar in the studio. It is powered with a 9-volt battery.Features:

Taylor Guitars' Description
Taylor K66ce Koa Grand 12-String
The Taylor K66ce Koa 12 String Grand Symphony Cutaway ES Acoustic Electric Guitar stands alone when comparing both sound and comfort of play. The finest sets of Hawaiian Koa have the best possible combinations of sounds over time since Koa starts out with a top end Maple type sound and opens up into a midrange like mahagony. When beauty is desired and required while maintaining smooth and comfortable play, the contoured ebony armrest is the perfect solution. An elaborate Island vine fretboard inlay accents the guitar and gives it a one-of-a-kind look. This Taylor Hawaiian Koa Grand Symphony Cutaway body style has a Venetian cutaway.Taylor ES: Expression System
Natural Sound Made Simple: People love the clear, full acoustic tone of their Taylors. That's why Taylor spent several years developing their own onboard acoustic pickup and preamp. Taylor's ground-breaking Expression System was designed to naturally amplify the warm acoustic sound of your guitar. The ES is an all-magnetic acoustic guitar pickup system. It works like a microphone to produce a natural acoustic sound. The point of an electric acoustic guitar is to amplify the sound so others can hear it, while maintaining the great sound. Previous electric acoustic guitars cannot pick up the pure sound as well as this magnetic system. This system gives you just a clean amplified acoustic guitar sound supported by three simple controls; volume, bass and treble.
Nothing sounds as true and musical as a microphone. With that as a starting point, Taylor's David Hosler led the team responsible for the Expression System's breakthrough technology. Utilizing a unique Dynamic Body Sensor mounted to the soundboard, a Dynamic String Sensor embedded beneath the fingerboard, and a discrete preamp, the advanced ES technology is unlike any other guitar pickup system.
The ES was designed in-house, alongside Taylor's acoustic guitars, which allowed us to build the ES seamlessly into the design of the guitar, for an integrated pickup system unlike any other. From the design and location of the body and string sensors to the voicing of the preamp, the ES is fully optimized for the Taylor sound. The elegant design, including the non-intrusive control knobs, also preserves the aesthetic of a Taylor guitar.
Features:
- Grand Symphony body shape which works well for strumming- Taylor 12 Strings have a particular bracing pattern to manage the string
tension
- ES electronics for fantastic natural acoustic tone, even when plugged in
- Hawaiian Koa - Tropical wood with a big bold voice that starts bright and tight and opens into a midrange mahagony sound
- Koa has existing brightness that has to be factored in
- Koa works well with fingerstylists who use the pads of their fingers with a meaty touch
