Maple Back and Sides for Syrupy Sweet Tone
The 616ce is constructed with big leaf maple back and sides, a wood you'll notice first from its striking natural flame pattern. Maple gives this guitar a bright sound with fewer overtones than other tonewoods. This makes the 616ce exceptionally clear-sounding and able to cut through the mix.Resonant Sitka Spruce Top
The 616ce's top is solid Sitka spruce, a proven tonewood versatile enough for strummers and fingerpickers alike. Under the spruce top, Taylor's Standard II bracing pattern moves the X brace closer to the sound hole and uses a relief rout to carve a groove around the top's interior edge. These techniques help to make for a more flexible and resonant top.Grand Symphony Body Shape: A Strummer's Delight
Crafted in Taylor's Grand Symphony body shape, the 616ce has plenty of surface area for resonant sounds. Though not as big as a jumbo shape, the Grand Symphony's wide lower bout promotes rich bottom-end sounds and makes for pronounced, booming chords. High-fret players, fear not: the Venetian cutaway allows for access to the upper registers.Tone That Stays True When Plugged In
Taylor designed the all-magnetic Expression System to act more as a microphone than… read more a pickup and avoid coloring a guitar's natural sound. The 616ce features a Dynamic Body Sensor mounted to the soundhole and a Dynamic String Sensor under the fretboard for an electronic system that is discreet sonically and visually. Volume, bass, and treble controls are located unobtrusively on the guitar's shoulder for easy access.Features:

"Maple before the new 616ce"

What can I say I love my first 16. I own four Taylor's now and the big leaf maple is my fav. The sound beats my 312ce by far. The guitar came almost perfect it might need a little bit of a setup but not by much. I do wish the case was brown like it said but I'll take the deluxe case any day. I can't say go buy one now because of Andy putting his new spin on the 600 but this 616ce looks sweet and plays even better.
