The Taylor 314 acoustic guitar combines North American Sitka spruce with African mahogany in a Grand Auditorium body shape. The sound is exceptionally pronounced in the midrange and treble -- making the Taylor 314 a fantastic fingerpicker's guitar. The 314 model is a totally classic acoustic guitar design, with no cutaway or onboard electronics to get in the way -- just gorgeous tonewoods in a beautiful Taylor body shape.

Great Wood Combination

The African mahogany in the back and sides of the Taylor 314 imparts a warm tone with a wide and complex midrange. This tone is balanced by the bright and snappy tone of the North American Sitka spruce top. As a result, the 314 is a great guitar for players who need exceptional articulation in fingerpicking or chordal playing. The mahogany sides also draw the eye with their beautiful grain and light satin finish.

Grand Auditorium: Taylor's Most Popular Body Shape

The body on the Taylor 314 is a full-size Grand Auditorium style. This is Taylor's most popular body shape, combining the 4.625-inch depth of a Dreadnought and the slightly deeper side curves of a Grand Concert. Combining elements from these two styles, the Grand Auditorium body proves equally versatile to strumming and fingerpicking styles. It has a warm but unobtrusive low end, balanced perfectly to its super clear midrange. The Taylor 314 is 16 inches across at its widest point with a 25.5-inch scale neck length.

Taylor 314 Acoustic Guitar

The Taylor 314 acoustic guitar's Grand Auditorium shape provides the perfect canvas for the striking appearance and warm tone of African mahogany.

Strong Rhythm

The warm tone and open midrange of African mahogany balances the bright and snappy characteristics of a Sitka spruce top. The resulting combination provides the perfect guitar for strong, rhythmic playing styles.

Grand Size

The Grand Auditorium body shape combines the width and depth of a Dreadnought with a narrower waist. Its sleek design yields a strong treble zing across the tonal spectrum and sharpens the definition of individual notes. The Grand Auditorium is a strong fingerpicking guitar that also adapts well to medium strumming.

Fit and Finish

The finish used to create this guitar's textured satin back and sides and lustrous gloss top was developed at Taylor for maximum durability and resistance to cold-checking. This ultra violet-cured finish is also more environmentally friendly than traditional lacquer finishes.

Upgraded from my Taylor 110 to this model and am very happy I did. I use it for primarily fingerstyle playing and it is a beautiful sounding, all solid wood guitar(spruce/mahogany/ebony) for a reasonable price that didn't break the bank. Setup out of the box was per usual with Taylor Guitars: perfect neck relief and standard string height. I did sand down the saddle to lower the action a bit (about 1/64th") and switched out the Elixer strings with some D'Addario lights..(my own personal preference). Now it's perfect. I like the Grand Auditorium shape better than a full dread.....is a little more comfortable to play for me. Very happy customer.
