The Taylor 210ce-K acoustic-electric guitar is a harmonious meeting of Hawaiian koa and Sitka spruce in a classic dreadnought body shape. Its fine craftsmanship is obvious in many thoughtful details, and its sound is simply one-of-a-kind. Its thick dreadnought body has a rich voice with more pronounced throw than most guitars. The 210ce-K model also features a generous Venetian-style cutaway, and includes custom-designed onboard electronics to deliver a great sound anytime you plug in to play or practice. If you're considering a Taylor 210ce, and have a taste for a little extra visual flair, this Koa edition is the right option.
The beautiful and complex grain of the Hawaiian koa laminate on 210ce-K's back and sides yields a look that is at once organic and exotic. The light finish brings out the natural beauty of the wood, and shines dramatically under the stage lights. It was designed by Bob Taylor to be "a functional piece of art," and the guitar's craftsmanship is unquestionably the product of a great artisan. The cream binding and small diamond fretboard inlays complete the distinctive identity of this particular model.
A True Dreadnought Guitar
The Taylor 210ce-K has a substantial dreadnought body measuring 4.625 inches wide. The guitar is 16 inches across at its widest point with a 25.5-inch scale neck length constructed of sapele wood, and topped with an ebony fretboard. These materials and dimensions add up to a guitar with a noticeably richer bass than most, with a voice that is strong and clear up through the highest notes. The solid Sitka spruce top shines up at you under its light, clear finish, allowing you to observe the beautiful grain of the wood firsthand.
The "C" in the 210ce-K's name refers to the quasi-Venetian-style cutaway in the body. Unique to Taylor's 200 series, this cutaway allows comfortable access to at least the 17th fret.
Custom Onboard Electronics
Taylor's ES-T pickup is a totally proprietary Taylor design -- not to be confused with Taylor's original ES system designed with Rupert Neve. The ES-T on this instrument is result of extensive development on Taylor's own behalf, and an audibly successful innovation in acoustic pickup design. It is a single-source piezo transducer located under the saddle. The ES-T pickup has a true powered preamp with active controls, and includes highly musical Bass and Treble EQ knobs, as well a master Volume control. The amplifier also has a Phase switch, accessible via the soundhole, to give you more control over feedback occurring between monitors and amps. The Phase switch can also be used simply to achieve a different tone.
