Takamine Company History
Nestled at the base of Takamine Mountain in Sakashita, Japan, Takamine Guitars have over 40 years of history dedicated to innovation and improvement to the art and craft of guitarmaking. What first began as a small family business has evolved into one of the leading guitar manufacturers In the world, depended upon by some of the best players and biggest names in the music industry.

So what's the deal? Why are there so many Takamine players? We'd like to think that it's because we've earned your respect. Takamine has made technological advancements that have surpassed other guitar makers. Takamine prides itself in their dedication and loyalty to fine luthiership and it is shown through each Instrument the company makes.

Takamine had its early beginnings while guitar playing and music was gaining popularity in Japan during the early 60's. As their business grew they saw the need to develop their skills and attract design and manufacturing talent. One of the most important additions to the company was one Mr. Mass Hirade.

Hirade joined Takamine in 1968, and made great improvements upon design and build quality, and set forth with his staff to energize and strengthen the business. The factory began producing their world class "Classical" that to this day still carry the Hirade name. Through Hirade's dedication and commitment to Takamine, he was able to begin an overseas trading business in 1975. Takamine Guitars were able to reach out to guitar players around the world. Takamine was finally placed in the hands of musicians who had only heard about their great sound and fine craftsmanship.

Takamine Goes Acoustic-Electric

Takamine G340SC Dreadnought Cutaway Acoustic Guitar Reviews

19 People rated this product :

"Unexpected and more than I expected!"
Feature:
I wish the fret board inlays were more eye-catching. I also wish this guitar had a pickup, because it sounds so amazing already.

Quality:
It is obvious tht this clean, classy guitar is about quality, so it's OK that it's not fancy. Solid, no defects, everything functions perfectly.

Value:
Perhaps the best I've seen for the price. A better bargain than my Martin DM. I went looking for a bit cheaper, "beater" guitar and found this gem!

Desirability:
Not a dazzling guitar, so people who play to look good probably won't be as into this guitar. But it has a dignified, classy appeal, and once you play it, it's addictive.

Sound:
It has a full, rich tone. Bass and timbre are great, especially considering the price.

Ease of Use:
Some fret buzz, but the action is plenty smooth. Seems to hold tune well, as the one I have played at the store (and will be buying this weekend) has been in tune each of the five times I have played it (and it's a floor model)!

Support:
Haven't purchased yet, but their web site is informative and easy to navigate. My Tak dealer is very knowledgeable, too.

Overall:
Love it and don't see that changing!

"Possibly the best guitar on the market"
Feature:
My Takamine didnt come with anything, but I wish it came with pickups...sadly, it doesnt

Quality:
I love this guitar. It is gorgeous and well made.

Value:
i payed 200.00 for mine(with a deal. a friend of mine works at Guitar Center) I would willingly pay more

Desirability:
this is the kind of guitar you could hang on the wall and people with turn green with envy over.

Sound:
I love this guitar. My friends, who own Taylors, MArtins, ect...LOVE to play my guitar. They love the sound. The only problem is they tend to have fret buzzes when first bought, but a good set up with take care of that. Stick with extra light or medium strings

Ease of Use:
It is easy for this guitar to reach its highest potential. Its great with specific tunings and capos.

Support:
My guitar got a chip from a very slight drop. It hasnt been fixed, but the people at Takamine were very kind.
