"Takemine EG363SC but don't Take Mine!"

Overall: 5 out of 5 stars
(see rating details)
It's hard to fault, especially at its price. I'd be gutted if I lost this one but would replace it like for like in a heartbeat. It's beautiful tones, the excellent pre-amp, the stunning finish.... I'd be churlish to find a real negative so the worst thing is no scratchboard. So buy one and stick it on if you must.... I am leaving mine exactly as it is.

Sound
The Tak EG363SC has got a beautifully rounded sound which is rich enough to push the overall sound whilst defined enough to really hear each string. On the guitar a G/F# sounds like it should, not like a G with a slight edge knocked off it! Play the soundhole, get balanced mid-tones right over the hole, a crisper sound towards the bridge and the most beautiful mellow tones I have heard in ages up towards the neck. Variation is infinitely available within a song and the sound is never anything other than pleasant at worst and superb at best.

Features
With the TP4T pre-amp, this guitar pushes out amplified sound effortlessly while retaining the qualities of its unplugged sound. The built-in tuner is superb, very accurate checked against a Korg and two other tuners and very fast to use. The only thing missing is a scratchboard which is unusually missing for a Tak but if that's the worst thing missing then it can't be bad!

Ease of Use
This has action that is spot on right out of the factory. I have not even considered getting anything read more adjusted, it is so easy to play, the action low enough to be quick and positive yet never any buzzing. I got no manual with it but that is hardly an issue.

Quality
WOW! She is beautiful, the woods used are excellent. This is not a veneered top, this is solid spruce which will only ever improve with time. It's mahogany and rosewood neck is exquisitely enhanced with beautiful abalone. Pretty but not tacky! The back and sides have panelle maple and rosewood which looks beautiful and enhances the richness of the sound. Honestly, if this guitar wasn't made to be played, it would be in an art gallery!

Value
As good as guitars at twice its price.

Manufacturer Support
I have chosen 10 but to be honest I haven't needed it. It's so well set up and comes with a limited lifetime warranty so I have no concerns at all about it staying looking and sounding beautiful.
