After years of playing my Telecaster, this Jag is just so much fun to play, and compared to the Tele, much easier to play also. Did I mention the fun part? The 9.5" radius is very comfortable, but when I first saw the little tiny frets, I was a bit bummed, but within a few minutes I found them very easy to play. The 24" scale makes for very easy string bending (I have .10 flat wounds on it now) and the vibrato arm is pretty stable as far as tuning goes. It can go a tiny bit sharp after a song, but I think that has more to do with the nut slots, which I'm still dialing in. Out of the box there was quite a bit of relief in the neck, but following Fender's directions on the web site, I've gotten it to within a couple of microns of spec and have a nice, low action. To take this from a pretty, inexpensive guitar that everyone hates the bridge on, to a player, I've done two things. The first is to shim the neck and the second was to add a BuzzStop. Bringing the neck up a bit was to help the break angle of the string over the saddles, increasing downward pressure on the bridge, and the BuzzStop was to do the same, by a factor of ten. The nice about the BuzzStop is that it's a non-marring, non-altering-your-guitar solution which installs or come back off in about five minutes with a phillips head screwdriver. The tuning is now extremely stable. The fit and finish on mine was great. The frets are well seated and smooth. The only thing I've done was sandpapered down a couple of the pick read more guard screw heads around the neck pickup as I occasionally was getting a few scrapes from them. I'll probably do the same thing to the edges of the pickup selector switches. My only complaint is that Fender hasn't seen fit to issue instructions, or a manual of some sort about the design, theory, and function of the bridge on this thing. It's the only real problem that people have with the guitar, and if they'd print up a little two sided instruction sheet and include it with the guitar, they'd save everyone a LOT of heartache. Now that I understand more about the bridge, I'm going to put on some .12s, and take off the BuzzStop, to see if that puts enough downward pressure on the bridge.
