Shure KSM141 Microphone Customer Review

Feature:
Large diaphram bass response + high spl handling of a small diaphram, very impressive.

Value:
I'd say its one of the best condesor all-around instrument mics available.

Sound:
This is one of the few microphones that I have used that work excellent on both the kick and snare. A friend brought a pair of these to a drum session, we experiemented with the KSM141 and the Microtech Geffell M930 witch ended up not being able to handle the snare. Positioned the Ksm 141 aproximatly 10" from the kick, in hyper-cardiod pointing twards the beater. Excellent response with no eq. After switching the out the Geffell, we found the preformace equally pleasing on the snare, I was impressed by the KSM141 completely.

The Shure KSM141 is an end-addressed condenser microphone with mechanically switching dual polar patterns (cardioid and omnidirectional). Designed for studio use, yet rugged enough for live applications, the KSM141 can withstand extremely high sound pressure levels (SPL). Its low self-noise and extended frequency response make it ideal for recording musical instruments.
