Seymour Duncan SSL6 Custom Flat Pro Strat Single-Coil Pickup

Add more output and sustain to your strat with this single coil pickup. It features Alnico rod magnets.

The SSL-6 looks just like Seymour Duncan's SSL-2, with rod magnets of equal length which are slightly raised above the flatwork. But this one is Seymourized. The custom coil winding gives you extra output with more punch and longer sustain.

Beefed up Strat with more output and flat pole pattern.

Great sound -- classic quack and pop!
Sound
I play many kinds of music, from rock to blues to jazz. I play a Fender Strat, and installed a ssl-6 in the bridge, a reverse-wound ssl-6 in the middle, and a vintage ssl-2 in the neck. Wow! The ssl-6's are overwound so they can really put out some classic "Strat" sound, but still clean up nicely when you back off the volume. I love the "quack" and mid-range "pop" that these pickups give you (a la Rory Gallagher). I play through a Marshall amp, and this combination of pickups really works well together. I decided to put a second ssl-6 in the middle (as opposed to another ssl-2) primarily because reverse-wound pickups have a tendency to lose some of their power, and the exra coil windings in the ssl-6 makes up for this quite well.
Features
Standard single coil. Great sound, but is sometime suseptable to annoying 60-cycle hum.
Ease of Use
Very easy to use. I spent some time adjusting the pickup height to get just the right sound and volume that works well when you go from one position to the other with the 5-way switch.
Quality
Seymour Duncan pickups are very well made. Excellent quality for a reasonable price.
Value
Again, excellent quality for the money.
Manufacturer Support
Haven't needed any.
The Wow Factor
When I play these pickups, I sense that somewhere, Rory Gallagher is smiling!
