Zero in on your sound source with this highly directional supercardioid condenser microphone. Avoid overload from louder sources by engaging the -10dB pad.

ProMic Laser is sE's first ever DSLR on-camera microphone -- a shotgun condenser microphone with a precision-tuned capsule for capturing professional-quality audio direct to camera.

Learn more about the ProMic Laser Camera Mic:

Laser, the first release in the ProMic series, is a truly professional solution. It has a rugged aluminum design and comes with a removable windshield and a custom shock mount for hot-shoe mounting directly onto a DSLR camera.

Laser is battery-powered using a single AAA battery (not included), which means that the microphone has an increased sensitivity level, and a lower noise floor, but the inclusion of a -10dB Pad allows you to reduce the level of the mic for recording louder sources.

The microphone also features a Bass Cut, which gives you the option of removing unwanted low frequency rumble, such as traffic or noise from the camera itself, and this can be used in tandem with the -10dB Pad.

As with all sE Electronics products, ProMic Laser comes with a three-year free replacement warranty, which means if it lets you down, we'll simply give you a new one.

ProMic Laser comes with a protective carry bag and a 3.5mm coiled jack-to-jack cable to connect the microphone to your camera. Laser is compatible with the upcoming ProMic accessories series, which includes boom poles and fur windshields.

"Great little performer, especially for the price"

This short, light weight shotgun mic performs well: good off-axis rejection, strong output signal, and great for run-and-gun video because it doesn't get in the way of any other gear (or the lens, depending where you place it). The directionality of the pick-up pattern is obvious with a sound source within about 2-3 feet, which is a good interview distance. At farther distances, room "boominess" can be heard, but that is a finction of the room acoustics and not a fault of the mic. The mic is just picking up on-axis sound reflections from the hard surfaces in the room. Voices come through quite well with good tonal range. Microphone self-noise is quite minimal for a mic in this price range. As others have noted, there is no LED to indicate when the mic is switched on, but the switch is white against the black background of the mic casing, so it's pretty easy to tell the position of the switch. The mic comes with one AAA battery and a short TRS-TRS coiled cord -- just about everything to get you going.

Musical Background:

No music performance. Use music in spoken word productions (podcasts, etc)
