Get a high-quality acoustic at an entry-level price with this dreadnought guitar, which features a solid cedar top and wild cherry back and sides.

A common misconception among musicians is that a guitar can either be high-quality or affordable, but never both at the same time. The Seagull S6 Cedar Original dreadnought acoustic guitar proves them wrong.

The Seagull Philosophy

Sure, it's priced like an entry-level guitar but it doesn't really play like one. The winner of several awards, the Seagull S6 is perhaps the instrument that best represents the Seagull philosophy. Seagull strives to "offer entry-level players the opportunity to experience great feel and superb sounds" and this is exactly what the S6 achieves.

A Hand Finished Neck

Let's start with the neck: it's incredibly smooth and made from Silver Leaf maple. Oh yea, and it's also hand finished. This means it's not made by a robot. While that may seem like an obvious observation to make, it's not something to be taken lightly. A hand-finished neck shows that real time and care went into the instrument, and it's refreshing to see this in a guitar priced for beginners.

Wild Cherry Wood Back and Sides

The S6's back and sides are made from a three-layer lamination of wild cherry wood. Besides providing a unique timbre that lands somewhere between the mellow tone of Mahogany and the bright sound of maple, wild cherry is an excellent tone wood. Seagull uses locally grown wild cherry wood, adding to the "benefit list" by making the S6 an ecologically friendly choice.

Cedar Top

The Seagull S6 features a solid cedar top which gives it a lush, read more dark-toned character and packs a solid low-end tone. Its semi gloss custom polished finish adds a striking visual impact to an already striking aural impact.

Another common musician misconception is that a beginner's ear isn't sophisticated enough to tell the difference between a good and a bad guitar, so why strive to buy a good one? As any music teacher will remind you, it's hard to learn the guitar and a student needs all the encouragement they can get. If a student enjoys playing their instrument that much more because it sounds that much better, they're more likely to stick it out past the hard parts and really learn to love the guitar. The Seagull S6 is exactly that type of instrument.

I bought a Martin, the all Mahogany for around 1500.00. Too mellow. It was very nice, but was not what I wanted. I sent it back and started a lot of research. For the amount of money I was putting on the Martin and go myself a really nice Strat, the Mex Players with the noiseless pups. I found the Seagull S6 and went t Utube and listened to as many examples of how it sounded as possible. I fell in love with it. For a third of what I was going to spend on the Martin, I could have something I really liked. This guitar is bright without sounding thin. The Wild Cherry back and sides, and a Cedar top makes this guitar have a wonderful bright and full bodied sound. After a month working with it, it seams to be getting better sound and playing wise. Great guitar, if you are looking for a guitar with bright projection, this is it. I would recommend it strongly.
