Product Description
Inspired by the Crystal Echoes preset in the Eventide H3000, Crystallizer is a mind-blowing sound transformer. With Crystallizer's granular reverse echo slicing and retro pitch processing, you can easily create a huge range of radical sonic manipulations. Use it to create synth-like textures from simple acoustic guitar rhythms, lush detuned echoes, or completely psychedelic pitch-shifted reverse echo effects. Great for drums, guitar, bass, sound design, electronic music, and just about anything else - Crystallizer is a truly unique and creative effects processor.
At the core of Crystallizer is a pair of reverse echo processors. These puppies basically grab a slice of audio and play it out, backwards. It's weird, trippy, and a whole lot of fun. You can dial in the length of the audio slice, anywhere from a couple of milliseconds to a couple of seconds. Super-short slices will completely mangle your audio, while longer slices will give you that psychedelic Hendrix sort of thing. If you want to get really psychotic, you can dial in up to 3 octaves of pitch change for each channel. You can even sync the audio slices to your song's beat so that you don't spoil your groove!
If you listened to the radio in the late 80s, you've heard the original Crystal Echoes effect. It's sound was absolutely unmistakable, and was often used on an intro or at the end of a song to create a synth-like pad from simple guitar chords. With our new Crystallizer algorithm, we couldn't help but add a few improvements. Like a built-in Gate/Duck control to help tame this sometimes unruly effect. We've also included some very nice high-cut and low-cut filters, which add a great tonal dimension to this effect.
With a flip of a virtual toggle switch, you can change the operation of Crystallizer from a reverse-echo effect, to an old-school pitch shifter. Modern pitch-shifters use fancy-pants mathematical algorithms to transform music and vocals as naturally as possible (like our PurePitch and Speed products). The original old school devices (like Eventide's legendary H910 Harmonizer) used a resample and crossfade technique that introduced audible 'glitches' in the pitch-shifted audio. Well, if you're one of those strange dudes that actually like those glitchy artifacts, Crystallizer's pitch-shifting is just for you. (Actually, for that classic Harmonizer detuning/doubling trick, Crystallizer and those original Harmonizers weren't half bad!)
Crystallizer goes way beyond your average plug for warping drum loops and rhythm patterns into something unique and sonicly fresh. Tighten down the delays and drop the pitch to create fat thunderous drums. Use the tone controls to re-work the sound or crank the Recycle knob to get spacey bubbly verbs or techno pitch drops. With Crystallizer it's easy to re-design the sound of your beats and rhythmic elements. Just grab your favorite loop and check out our 'Drum' presets. Crystallizer will lead you to your new kickin' beat!
