What's special about this item?

Feature: What it does:
Set neck with Ultra Access joint Reach high notes easily via contoured neck joint
3-piece mahogany neck Stable and strong; withstands the test of time
Seymour Duncan Custom SH-11 and '59 pickups Versatile tone with clear highs and midrange growl
Ebony fretboard Dark color, tight grain; premium fretboard wood

With a carved top, striking appearance and tone to back it up, the Tempest Custom is built for players who desire an instrument that's a little unconventional. This is a set-neck guitar with a bound mahogany/maple body and a 'tune-o-matic' bridge. Its neck is maple with a 22-fret, bound rosewood fingerboard. The inlays are split-crowns and the frets are medium in size. Other features include Grover tuners and gold hardware on the black model and chrome hardware on the sunburst.

Schecter locking w/ Pearl Buttons

Schecter locking tuners w/pearl button feature a locking screw pin to lock the string into place for greater tuning stability. Details include a 19:1 gear ratio allowing for precise fine tuning adjustments, removable pearloid buttons, threaded peghead bushing, and a 10 mm diameter peg hole.

Finger Board - Ebony

Ebony has a snappy, crisp attack with the density of maple, but with more brittle grains, oilier pores, and a stronger fundamental tone than maple. It has a tremendous amount of percussive overtones in the pick attack, that mute out shortly thereafter to foster great, long, sustain

Pickups - Seymour Duncan Custom Custom SH-11/'59 SH-1N

Bridge: The Custom is the SH-5 Duncan Custom humbucker with an Alnico II magnet for warm and smooth highs, more midrange, and a spongier bottom end than the SH-5. It's a good choice for players who need a traditional vintage tone with increased output.
Neck: Late-'50s, vintage-correct, humbucker sound. Warm read more and crystalline clean tones. Full and bright distorted tones. Smooth sustain. Classic appointments include plain enamel wire, long legged bottom plate.

3-pc Mahogany Neck

Made with three pieces of mahogany for extra stability. Three piece necks can withstand the test of time. Where standard necks may show aging defects from temperature and moisture changes throughout the years, the three piece neck will stay nice and straight for a lifetime of playability.

TonePros TOM System

TonePros components complete your instrument! Your bridge and tailpiece will be locked down and will not move or "wiggle" at all. With this design, even play or movement in the threads is reduced so that when you adjust your action and intonation, it is set and solid. Which improves your sustain and tonal qualities, makes harmonics "jump" out of your guitar, and more stable tuning.

As with any guitar you have to play it. I played with this one for some time but new early on that I was going to get it.For me it matches with an SG or Les Paul in terms of feel and sound. And it is fairly lite, a Les Paul will test your back after a night of giging.

Sound
Feels and sounds much like a Gibson SG. Fits my sound quite well. For what ever reason the the white one I have plays better than my black one. The strings are probably broken in better on the white one! The neck and the frets just feel the best with these guitars. Works for me hope it works for you. My sound is rock/metal in its tone. Can't say I would use it for jazz or traditional country but if Rock is where you are at I think will work great.

Features
Don't use the special push-pull knob but it is there if I need that sound. Really sounds great with it pushed in.

Ease of Use
Having play guitar for a very long time I have gone through a lot of guitars. This is the best one I have owned. Make that two. I have a white and a black finished model. I use the white one the mosts. My style is a Metal/Prog rock feel. And with the right effects, this guitar delivers. All of the frets are reachable too. Again it reminds me of a SG style neck. Very smooth and quick.

Quality
These mass produced products are looking better and better quality wise. I believe it is made in Korea. And as far as read more a guitar goes I don't really look for the whole quality thing. If it plays great and sounds great that is all the quality I need. It is on par with any other brand. I would get this one before I every used say an Epiphone, they're junk! And I don't like PRS's for some reason and the Les Paul customs today will require a second mortgage. No problems as far as quality after about six months of use. They stay in tune great!

Value
For me these two guitars I have are the best I have owned, and I have owned almost all of your top brands and models. The white one cost me $499 and the black one $399. The case is where they got me in the pocket! You can't go wrong with an old Les Paul custom or an old Strat but for my music today this guitar is a very good value for the price.

The Wow Factor
For most musicians it is about the sound. For us guitar players it sometimes is only the sound. Ever seen Willy Nelson's guitar or SRVs, they look like they are ready for the fire wood pile. But I think the sound also comes with the way it plays, the feel. The looks of this guitar are fine for me. I have a 'V' so that is as far as I will go for a wierd looking guitar. I also tend to stick with the whites and blacks for colors. Just me I guess.
