Manufacturer's Description for Schecter California Custom 5-String Electric Bass

Previously only available from the Schecter Custom Shop, the new Diamond Series California Custom Basses offer many features from those hand-built counterparts. These Custom basses feature an alder body with a highly figured Maple top. Both 4 and 5 string versions feature a bolt-on 35 in. scale rock maple neck for added low-end clarity. The gloss-finished neck has a 21-fret rosewood fingerboard inlaid with Black Pearl dots. Other features include a massive chrome plated Hipshot 'A' style bridge, which adds sonic sustain, low-end clarity and gives you the option of 'thru-body' or traditional top-load stringing, EMG pickups, and an EMG Active BTS system (master volume, balance and independent bass and treble controls). Schecter basses now come with factory installed Elixir strings for tone and long-life. All Schecter Diamond Series Basses are backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Hipshot Bridge
When the strings are run through the body of your instrument as opposed to being held at the back end of the bridge, string pressure is directed downward forcing the saddles into the body. Therefore saddle/ bridge/ body coupling is enhanced, giving you a more snappy tone (good for slapping) and increased clarity (great for drop tuning and distorted bass tones). The Hipshot 'A' bridge are available with the string through and top loading features combined so that you can run some strings though the body or from the back of the bridge for maximum tonal adjustment and variations (for example; you may want to run your bass strings though the body while running you treble strings from the back of the bridge.) zZounds is an authorized dealer of Schecter products.

Sound: Good and versatile tone. Good bottom end and excellent treble. Quiet electronics! Feature: Solid Hipshot Bridge with topload or neck through option. Tuners are massive and solid. Stays in tune! Real EMG's not the hz's. Active EMG BTS preamp puts out good tone and is nice and quiet. Electronics cavity is nice and clean, the shielding paint is put on very well, not slapped in haphazardly like some other Basses I've seen, the inside of the cavity cover is covered with shielding tape, another feature not found on many Basses in this price range. Quality: The quality of this Bass is outstanding. The finish is flawless, the fretwork is great. I can't find any flaws at all on this Bass. Value: I bought the vintage sunburst finish and as such it was less than the Black cherry one and I have to say this Bass is an outstanding value for the money. I am very happy with this Bass. I guess the vintage sunburst isn't as popular?? thus the reduced price but I can't understand why because the Bass looks incredible! Manufacturer Support: Don't know, have not needed any yet. The Wow Factor: Well I had to give it a ten since I bought it! I guess that proves "I want it". Overall: Bass is solidly put together, quality contol is great, I expect to have this Bass for a good many years. I've gone through a ton of basses looking for the "one" This "one" is a keeper for sure.
