Electric axes can't harness many more features than Schecter's BlackJack SLS C-1 FR Sustainiac electric guitar does. This ultra-modern beast features a Seymour Duncan Full Shred SH-10 bridge pickup and Sustainiac Full Shred neck pickup with sustain setting selector switches, mounted in a menacing mahogany body with a deep cutaway and attractive black multi-ply binding. You get 24 X-jumbo frets across a super smooth ebony fingerboard, a three-piece maple neck in an ultra-thin profile, and a flexible and secure Floyd Rose 1000 Series bridge coupled with Schecter locking tuners for maintaining confident intonation.

Comfortable Modern Mahogany Body

This axe boasts a comfortably contoured mahogany body that gives of a intriguing modern look. Mahogany is a popular wood for guitars because of its full and dark tonal emphasis. Your lows and mids will get plenty of sustain and resonance through every note and every chord. The arched top on this axe's body gives off a somewhat textured three-dimensional look that almost jumps out at you -- with multi-ply binding on the body and headstock to add a subtle touch of class.

Seymour Duncan Full Shred Pickups

Fueling your tone with endless sustain and sonic force are your Seymour Duncan Full Shred SH-10 bridge and Sustainiac Full Shred neck pickups. Your Sustainiac neck pickup features a sustain switch that allows your notes to roar and linger in endless sustain. This opens up the door to boatloads of interesting feedback and read more harmonic possibilities. It also gives your notes a big and thick tonal character full of body and presence. Your Full Shred SH-10 bridge pickup adds an aggressive bite to your playing and pairs wonderfully with your Sustainiac neck pickup. Both of these babies produce warm and alluring humbucker tone that every shredder would be proud to play through.

Sustain Mode Switches

Right next to this axe's Floyd Rose 1000 Series bridge are two switches. One of these switches engages and disengages the unlimited sustain mode for your Sustainic neck pickup. The other switch toggles between three different Sustainiac modes. The normal mode lets your Sustainiac pickup work in its default sustaining mode. The mix mode will yield harmonic frequencies, typically second or third harmonics for notes below the 12th fret. Finally, the harmonic mode will yield a high fifth or seventh vibration. The tonal possibilities are virtually endless; you'll never find yourself bored with what sounds this monster of an axe and produce. It's like that feedback you get when in front of a loud amp -- but a lot more controllable.

Three-piece Maple Neck and Ebony Fingerboard

Once you warp your hand around your Schecter BlackJack's ultra thin profile neck, you won't want to let it go. This melodic appendage is a shredder's dream, featuring a super-smooth ebony fingerboard with 24 extra-jumbo frets, each harnessing a supremely tight action that plays like butter. Maple adds an aggressive snappiness and brightness to your notes, assuring that every lick will make its way from your fingers to your amplifier.

The Floyd Rose Advantage

The combination of Schecter locking tuners and a Floyd Rose 1000 Series bridge provides the perfect playground for any shred-happy guitarist. You can bend your strings to the extreme or dive them to rumbling lows, assured that each one will return to its default tension in tune and ready to continue rocking. You can push this baby to the max, knowing well that you won't lose any footing in the process. Go ahead and test your fingers' limits -- and hear the amazing sounds this Schecter can dish out.

Schecter BlackJack SLS C-1 FR Sustainiac

The Schecter Blackjack SLS C1 FR Sustainiac Electric Guitar has the 'Secret Weapon' for controlled feedback and infinite sustain. First, the pickup signal is processed by the Sustainiac circuit, and then connected to the Sustainiac Driver. The Driver turns the amplified note into vibrational energy. This vibrational energy is then fed back into the strings for infinite sustain. This string vibration is similar to playing in front of a loud Amp.

Tuners - Schecter Locking

Schecter Locking Tuners feature a locking screw pin to lock the string into place for greater tuning stability. Details include a 19:1 gear ratio allowing for precise fine tuning adjustments, removable knobs, threaded peghead bushing, and a 10mm diameter peg hole.

Finger Board - Ebony

Ebony has a snappy, crisp attack with the density of Maple, but with more brittle grains, oilier pores, and a stronger fundamental tone than Maple. It has a tremendous amount of percussive overtones in the pick attack, that mute out shortly thereafter to foster great, long, sustain.

Pickups - Seymour Duncan Full Shred SH-10 / Sustainiac Full Shred

Double rows of Allen screw pole pieces help fine tune the high end, leaving a tone that's fat and chunky, yet perfectly defined for speed riffs. Gives tonal control in high-gain situation. Sustainiac: This Driver/Pickup produces beautiful Humbucker tones when Sustain switch is off, and works as the Sustainiac Driver when switched On. The Sustainiac Driver creates an infinite feedback sustain of string vibrations by electromagnetic feedback.

Neck - 3-piece Maple

Made with 3 pieces of maple for extra stability. 3 piece necks can withstand the test of time. Where standard necks may show aging defects from temperature and moisture changes throughout the years, the 3 piece neck will stay nice and straight for a lifetime of playability.

Neck Specs - Satin Finish with Ultra Thin Profile

The SLS collection features a Satin finish neck for lightning fast playing above and below the 12th fret, an Ultra Thin neck profile (19mm at 1st fret/ 20mm at 12th fret), and an Ultra Access neck joint shape for easier access to the last frets.

Sustainiac Mini Switches

On/Off Switch: This turns on/off the Sustainiac driver. Normal/Mix/Harmonic Switch: Normal Mode- String vibration will continue to ring natural fundamental note. Mix Mode- Some frets yield fundamentals, while others yield harmonics. Notes below the 12th fret will mostly morph into 2nd or 3rd harmonics. Harmonic Mode- Sustained notes morph into a high 5th or 7th harmonic vibration.

This is a really aggressive and sound exploratory guitar!

Sound
The sound quality is great. The bridge pick-up bites but is very warm. I was actually surprised by it thinking it was going to be very tinny but I was dead wrong. Of course the sustainiac in the neck is the reason why I bought it works to no end. Playing with the feedback is great! The coolest things is how you can get feedback using a clean sound! Talk about a change in pace!

Features
As mention above, the sustainiac is the best and what makes it work the best to me is the fact that it has a floyd rose tremolo. I wouldn't buy one without a floyd rose if you really want to have fun with that pickup. Pictures doing a dive bomb and coming back up with screaming harmonics! There you go!!

Ease of Use
I'm coming from a fender strat to this and it is an adjustment for sure. The sounds are cleaner and thicker which I had to adjust to be a little tweaking of my amp and the sweet warm gibson like sounds start coming out. No it's not a Gibson but it surely reminded me of one when dialed in a certain way but this beast has it's own identity.

Quality
Nice satin black finish. The binding was perfect and the neck and setup was pretty good out of the box. I made a few small adjustments for my liking and I've been rocking ever since. This is the lowest action guitar I've ever had. I barely have to press down read more and I'm there on the jumbo frets. The frets are easy to get accustomed to. It's not even a passing thought if you're used to smaller frets. Quality parts such as a real floyd rose and grover tuners makes this one a steal at the price. Beside that and Duncan pickups(not designed) makes this a must have.

Value
This is worth the money all the way. If this was made in the U.S. it would be twice as much. Look at the specs for yourself. All of those appointments would cost your hundreds each to do what Schecter did on this.

Manufacturer Support
Haven't had to deal with support yet.
