Overview
The Sterling By Music Man MAJ100 Majesty is the result of John Petrucci's unwavering demand for performance, playability and race inspired design. Every graceful nuance built into the Majesty is a result of the collaboration between the Ernie Ball Music Man design team and John Petrucci.
An incredibly sleek, perfectly balanced instrument, the MAJ100 Majesty features a 25.5" scale, a speedy, 16" radius Rosewood fretboard and African Mahogany set-neck and body. A masterfully crafted design, the unfettered neck joint offers the player unparalleled, full 24 fret access. "Shield" style inlays adorn the neck, as well as John's signature "JPShield" logo, which is inlaid at the first fret.
Ergonomic in-line recessed controls include a 3 position pickup selector, Volume, and Tone VR controls. Additionally, MAJ100 features an Active "push-push" 12dB circuit boost on the Volume control, allowing the player ultimate soloing power at their fingertips. This Active Circuit is powered by a 9V battery that loads into an easily accessed compartment on the rear of the instrument, and requires no tools, making battery changes user friendly and quick.
Accurate intonation, smooth operation and excellent tuning stability come courtesy of the combination of Locking Tuning Machines and the Sterling By Music Man designed "Modern Tremolo." This premium, full floating tremolo system is featured on most John Petrucci Signature Series instruments, and allows for full dives, 2 step pulls, and is exceptionally… read more responsive to flutter effects, all while maintaining accurate tuning. The Locking Tuning machines are arranged in a 4+2 manner on the angled headstock, giving positive, in line string pull over the nut. String changes are easy with a slight turn of the locking wheel mechanism located on the rear of each tuning machine. Johns' signature is also proudly featured on the face of the headstock

"So impressed"
I was at a big Guitar shop near the Center of town looking at strats. Found an excellent American strat from 2013 for $800 that i was all set to take home. I saw this sterling MAJ100 on a stand next to the amp i was using to test the strat and decided to play it on a whim...... WOW! Totally blown away. I've played other Ernie Ball electrics that were much more expensive and played like an expensive guitar. What surprised me about this MAJ100 is that it played WAYYY beyond it's price.The tone and volume nobs are fantastic. Totally impressed. They work effectively with no degradation to the sound at all. This guitar is comfortable. extremely light, well balanced, and the resonance is insane. Frankly when i picked it up it was so light it felt like a toy guitar. Like it's hollow or plastic or something. When i played it though, even unplugged, it clearly resonates like a serious instrument. Even with the amp in my face i felt each note clearly resonate through the guitar. Reminded me of an acoustic almost. Despite trying, and owning, many other guitars (gibsom, fender, prs, ibanez, as far as electrics go) this sterling sold me on it's merits. Not looks though. Initially i HATED the looks. They are growing on me but i think it's because of how stellar this guitar is in ALL other areas. The only thing i wish it had was a way to split the coils.Try this guitar.
