About This Product!
Description
Docs
The Samson Rubicon active ribbon studio monitors feature 2-inch velocity ribbon high frequency transducers that compliment a 2-way active system capable of reproducing playback in its most natural form. Ribbon drivers have no resonant color and are non- dispersive; unlike a tradition diaphragm tweeter. The ribbon driver itself has no added sound characteristics, they are completely neutral. Ribbon technology gives you clean accurate and precise listening, which is why these monitors sound so natural and lifelike, just like a studio monitor should.

2-inch velocity ribbon high frequency transducer

5-inch low frequency driver with butyl surround

Bi-amp design / 50 watts low frequency / 25 watts high frequency

"Great sound and value!!!!!!!!!"
Feature:
They are missing RCA ins. They do have a power switch located on the back. I know why its on the back but wish it was on the front. They also have a three position trebble switch for the tweeter -2db odb and +2db. I don't need any woofer control but some may. They do have a volume control for getting the volume right for the room.

Quality:
For MDF they are great. Not as glossy or polished as KRK's but the finish doesn't leave finger prints. They are bigger than some others with the same size woofer.

Value:
Best bang for the buck I've found and I've looked far and wide.

Desirability:
I have never been turned on by a speaker but these have as good a chance as any. What is "sex appeal".

Sound:
These sound very good. I am running them out of my Presonus FireStudio and I am happy with how they sound. They have smooth but pronounced highs. The bass is not over emphasized or under stated. The sound is natural and pleasing. You will not get the chest pounding bass of a subwoofer. Nor will you get the painfull shattering sound of a horn tweeter. You shouldnt want either from a speaker less than 5 feet from your ears. They are louder than I thought they would be.

Ease of Use:
It is hard to find the on off switch in the dark but the rest is easy.

Overall:
Big little speakers with great sound. I use them in my small studio and they work great for me. I replaced my square KRK's with these and am very happy. If a mix sounds good on these it will sound good anywhere. I don't find myself over EQing on these.
