Roland VT-3 AIRA Voice Transformer

No longer available at zZounds
Monotone robot voices, sick vocoders, hard-tuned auto-pitch, broken-radio lo-fi, glitchy effects -- the VT-3 does it all, with sliders for real-time control.

The Roland VT-3 AIRA Voice Transformer is a throwback to Roland's vintage vocoder, the VP-330. Modeled after this analog vocal effects processor, the VT-3 can immediately transform your voice with everything from reverb, pitch bends, and lo-fi filters to bass and lead synth-like effects. There's even a dedicated Robot button so you can talk like a robot into a connected microphone with just the push of a button. Real-time sliders let you "play" the VT-3, controlling your wet/dry mix, pitch shift, formant shift and reverb mix.

See what Roland's AIRA series is all about with this video:

A More Portable Vocoder

While the VT-3 is modeled after the vintage VP-330, it benefits from the modern twist of not requiring a keyboard for input -- even for vocoder-style effects. That means it's considerably more portable than its predecessor, weighing about one and a half pounds. The VT-3 and your microphone is all you need to transform your voice into new and previously unimagined sounds.

Analog Circuit Behavior Technology

Each AIRA unit is authentically crafted based on the original specifications of the '80s instrument which inspired it. Using DSPs and Analog Circuit Behavior (ACB) technology, Roland has painstakingly created an exact digital copy of the original analog circuits used in the VP-330 vocoder, going so far as to model the behavior of the analog circuits themselves, allowing the VT-3 to function and sound its predecessor -- even without a keyboard -- with the read more added benefit of new vocal transformation tools like Scatter for glitchy vocal effects.

Great Unit. Performs as expected. Low price alternative to hiring different voice actors. I do cartoons for a living and found a great range of sounds for my characters. With the presets, you can have as many as six voices at a time at your finger tips. I don't have a rating for Manufacturer support as I had no reason to call them.

Musical Background:

Play record and produce church music. (over 30 years).
