Central to any professional audio workstation is the number and quality of its effects. The VS-1680 and VS-1880 thus offer 4 onboard stereo multi-effects processors via 2 optional VS8F-2 24-Bit Effects Expansion Boards. Each board contains 2 fully independent stereo multi-effects processors with 34 effects algorithms and 210 Preset patches each.

The quality of these effects (from lush studio reverbs and choruses to innovative Voice Transformer effects, lo-fi effects, and even onboard COSM-based guitar preamp models) is simply unrivaled, thanks to Roland's position as one of the world's leaders in audio effects development.

Equipped with 2 VS8F-2 Effects Expansion Boards, the VS-1680 and 1880 let you automate up to 8 channels of mono or 4 channels of stereo, professional-quality effects. These effects can be used in any number of ways: add reverbs and delays to vocals or drums during mixdown; automate parameters like delay feedback during specific parts of a song; "print" with dynamics effects to free-up the effects processors for later; record guitar and bass "direct" using the dedicated 1/4 in. Guitar input and process the "straight" track through one of the stunning onboard guitar amp models, etc. All effects editing is done via intuitive knob-style on-screen icons, so adjusting parameters ranging from reverb decay to guitar amp gain is as simple as scrolling to and turning the appropriate "knob." And once a particular effects sound is achieved, store your modified effect setting into one of 200 for instant recall.

Best of all, with the VS8F-2s, all signal processing remains in the 24-bit digital domain, eliminating signal loss through patch cables and the hassle of external mixers and patch bays. zZounds is an authorized dealer of Roland products.

2 boards can be installed into the VS-1880 for a total of 4 stereo or 8 mono channels of automated effects processing.

Sound: The onboard effects are amazing.. the edit menu is definatly a bonus.. i use it in all my studio applications and have actually produce radio hits with the vs-1880 and VS8f-2 expansion pack!! I also use Boss and Emac processors, but the unique sound and control over the roland on board processing takes my breath away, literually in the studio!

Sound: the sound of plate,and hall reverbs is very good. it also has nice tape echo ( the old roland tape space echo sound) it's quite impressive!! Overall: this roland effects card is not a cheap item- it does provide nice eefects!
