With mesh V-Pads all the way around, the TD-12S lets drummers sink their sticks into the best-feeling pads in the business. The new TD-12 drum module is an upgrade from the previous TD-8, sharing the same stunning sound quality as the flagship TD-20. Hi-hat stand, and bass pedal not included.

With the same stunning sound quality as the flagship TD-20, the new TD-12 drum module provides hundreds of expressive instruments and play-along sequences in a streamlined, affordable package. Many of the sounds in the TD-12, from drums to cymbals, are COSM modeled for the ultimate in expression and realism. The module provides the same large, icon-based LCD as its big brother (the TD-20), and is housed in a road-tough, metalic black chassis with a friendly array of buttons, controls, and mix sliders. Twelve trigger inputs are provided, plus four audio outputs and MIDI I/O.

Enjoy the dozens of expert-programmed kits in the TD-12, from authentic acoustic sets to ultra-modern electronic flavors. But the fun doesn't stop there; customize your snare drum, toms, bass drum, and cymbals with the modeling-based V-Editing. Change sizes and materials, attach sizzles to cymbals, increase snare buzz, and more. Then get out your sticks and enjoy! The TD-12 supports positional sensing on the snare and ride, as well as on the toms when you play rimshots. The TD-12 is also brush compatible, and features the expressive Interval Control feature for the snare and ride/crash/china cymbal, which varies the sound in natural ways based on the speed of stroke repetition. zZounds is an authorized dealer of Roland products.

"Excellent."

Sound: Overall, the kits rock. Sound quality is far above the TD6. The sequences are pretty good too, much better than the TD6 and its crop of cheesy sounding songs. The positional sensing really really brings out the nuances of the snare sound. The kick drums get LOW. Combine this with the wide dynamic range of the sound module and I found that when turned it up, my headphones would clip out with the hard hitting low kick drum sounds. If using phones, use ones that can handle a high input signal and you're good. I saw that Sony and Audio Technica do this with their ~$199 models and up. Feature: The features are great. Lots of kits, lots of sequences, separate faders for drum groups (snare, kick, toms, etc), separate dials for mix in, phones, master. Phones input up front. Nice big LCD display. Tap sequences are cool but I got bored with them after a while. Demo song preview for checking levels. Trigger preview button for this also. The phones output is nice and loud so you could definitely hook up a nicer, high impedence set of headphones to it. I could go on and on. I would give it a 10 but I guess the TD 20 gets that rating. Ease of Use: I got around easy enough by just playing with the buttons but I'm a technical guy to start with. The menus aren't THAT deep so I think that most people could just jump in. I had to consult the manual to figure out what a CHAIN was. Quality: Fantastic quality. Nothing feels cheap. It feels like it will last a LONG time. Value: Value is decent, not high. Roland makes EXPENSIVE products. I got mine used for $2500. I think a fair price would be $1999 new. But then again, not many manufactures make products of this caliber so I'm thankful that this simply exists. The Wow Factor: It's sexy that's for sure. Mine is black finish on the mesh heads. Chrome accents on the toms and snare. Glossy black frame. It looks solid and professional. Overall: I started my trek into drumming with the TD3, then upgraded to the TD6 later and played for a month or two. Upgrading to the TD12 is SIGNIFICANT, but then again for over twice the price, it should be. I'm not brand loyal but Roland has definitely impressed me with this product. Their years of experience really seem to shine through here.

Sound: The sound that the TD12 puts out is phenominal. Some of the drum sets sound just like the real thing. You would swear the cymbals are real. 50 great and fun kits. I spend like an hour or two playing this thing every day. Ease of Use: Compared to other electric drum sets, response wise, this thing leaves them in the dust. I had a TD 3 before this thing probably every 15th time I hit the crash it wouldn't even work. I've only owned the TD12 for five days now so I don't know too much about the editing features, they aren't exactly intuitive so i am going to have to break out the manual. Quality: The product is very sturdy. The rack it came with is top of the line, and easy to adjust to your liking. The product is very reliable. They have this thing at guitar center. People beat on it all day and it theirs still work perfectly. As for mine, I payed a lot for this thing so I'm going to baby it, I'm hoping to have this thing for a long time. I actually bought mine used and it was as in good a shape as the new ones, works great. Value: Top of the line. The TD12 and TD20 are the best electric drums you can buy. Overall: Over all I expect to be satisfied with this product for a long time. If your planning on getting an electric kit you're better off buying this one, the older models and less expensive ones really aren't that good. This one is expensive, but I'm really glad I forked out the money. The TD20 is just too expensive.
