Lessen your traveling load without sacrificing musical integrity. Roland technology makes this lightweight stage piano sound and feel like the real instrument.

Designed -- and priced -- for the serious gigging musician, the Roland RD-300NX 88-Key Digital Stage Piano is a true workhorse of a keyboard. You say you want a full-range piano that doesn't weigh a ton or cost a fortune, but still sounds and plays up to your professional standards? Some might call you "overly demanding," but we just call you "describing the Roland RD-300NX." Let's take a closer look.

SuperNATURAL Piano Engine: Not Just a Name

It takes chutzpah to call your piano sound engine "super," but like the old saying goes, it ain't bragging if you can back it up. Typical digital pianos rely on crossfading between a few samples, resulting in a choppy dynamic response that climbs three or four audible "stair-steps" as you play louder. But on the RD-300NX's 67 acoustic and electric piano tones, Roland's SuperNATURAL engine organically morphs between samples from pianissimo to fortissimo, across the piano's entire dynamic range. Furthermore, unlike digital pianos that approximate decay by looping samples over and over while fading them out, SuperNATURAL technology reproduces the complex, organic decay of real piano strings. Paired with the piano's 88-key Ivory Feel-G keyboard, the SuperNATURAL Piano engine makes the RD-300NX one of the most expressive digital instruments on the market -- even more impressive when considering its 38-pound weight.

Customizable, Stage-Worthy Sounds and Effects

Want further proof that the RD-300NX was built for gigging musicians? Note read more the large, one-touch buttons that illuminate to help you navigate Roland's deep arsenal of sounds on dim stages. User-defined Live Sets let you layer and split up to 3 tones in your own built-from-scratch configurations -- or tweak and save any of 200 factory Live Sets, conveniently organized to help you find the sound you need fast. Roland's professional multi-effects processor lets you shape individual tones within a Live Set, with everything from amp simulations to rich, detailed reverb. Three hardware sliders control the level of your individual layers. You'll also find dedicated hardware knobs and buttons to adjust global EQ, chorus, reverb, compression -- plus Roland's unique Sound Focus effect, which combines a presence boost with a more focused stereo image to help your RD-300NX cut through dense mixes without turning up the volume.

Audio and MIDI Playback From Your USB Stick

Perhaps more than any other instrument, the full-range piano lends itself well to solo performance. But that doesn't mean you have to sound like you're all by yourself -- especially when you're gigging with the Roland RD-300NX. On the back of the unit, you'll find a handy port for a USB memory stick. Connect your thumb drive, and you'll be able to play CD-quality WAV backing tracks, or standard MIDI files with adjustable tempo. Of course, your RD-300NX also has a second USB port for MIDI over USB, plus the standard 5-pin MIDI in and out ports to integrate with the other keyboards and modules in your rig.

Delivering the uncompromising piano sound and feel you need -- without all the bells and whistles you don't -- the Roland RD-300NX is perfectly suited for the stage. If you thought a pro-quality stage piano was beyond your means, you'd do well to give Roland's budget-minded RD-300NX serious consideration.

SuperNATURAL Sound

The RD-300NX's acoustic-piano sounds are derived from Roland's acclaimed SuperNATURAL Piano sound engine. With SuperNATURAL Piano technology, three essential elements are dramatically improved -- velocity response, note decay, and key-range behavior -- resulting in smooth, natural sound and response. For EP lovers, the RD-300NX contains an E. Piano based on SuperNATURAL technology that meticulously models classic vintage EPs.

Ivory Feel-G Keyboard

The Ivory Feel-G keyboard incorporates Roland's most advanced sensor, escapement mechanism, and Ivory Feel features. The keyboard provides the superior touch and sensitivity of Roland's flagship keyboards, in a compact and lightweight design... a great benefit for gigging musicians who want to travel light.

Unique Sound Focus

The innovative Sound Focus feature ensures that every note will be heard, even subtle pianissimo passages. Based on SuperNATURAL phase-correction technology, this essential feature ensures that the RD-300NX won't get lost in the mix, penetrating through walls of sound without compressing or coloring the tone. Players can relax and play naturally, achieving presence onstage without sacrificing dynamics and sound quality.

Bonus Features

The popular One Touch Piano concept from previous RD-series pianos has been carried over the RD-300NX as well. The handy feature provides instant access to essential piano and E. Piano sounds and setups with dedicated one-touch buttons. In addition, the popular and powerful Piano Designer feature has been included in the RD-300NX feature set, letting you build custom pianos quickly and easily on the graphic LCD. And finally, for keyboardists who desire a true grand-piano pedaling experience onstage, an optional RPU-3 triple-pedal unit can be added.

I've got an original RD-300 I bought new in the 80's and played it til this past summer. Most of those almost 30 yrs was full-time, much of it on the road, and it's STILL working. I checked a few others, but decided to go with another Roland and *love* this one. The action is great, but I especially like the way the controls are laid out on the panel. It's just *made* for playing live... 'everything's easy to get to. I like a bright but rich "in your face" piano sound (kind of Bruce Hornsby-ish). I had to tweak the sound a little to get that but that's the great thing about this... you have a lot of control over all the sounds. Strings sounds are great as is the clavinet. Only weak point to me is the stock organ sounds, but I haven't messed with them much yet. Not bad... but I'm an old Hammond player, so "the bar is high" to my ears. The built-in rotary effect (Leslie) is reasonably good...'again some tweaking is in order, but it's easy enough to do. I'm a semi-retired musician these days, 'just a "weekend warrior", but this was the perfect keyboard for me. I bought a "blemished" open box one here from zZounds and got a GREAT discount ('and still can't find the flaw :O).... 'couldn't be happier. Thx...
